Sammons is one of the best values you’ll find in Central Texas golf. The course is very affordable, and for the price you get well-maintained fairways and greens that usually roll true. The food and drinks are also budget-friendly, which makes it easy to enjoy a full day out without breaking the bank.
That said, there are a few areas where Sammons could improve. The tee boxes are often uneven and beat up—noticeably so, even for a municipal course—which can make it frustrating when trying to set up a solid shot. Another drawback is the lack of cart service. Given the Texas heat, especially in the summer, having more cart girls out on the course would make a huge difference in player experience.
As a mid-handicap golfer (around 18), I still find this course to be a solid challenge. There are plenty of hazards in play, which forces you to think strategically and rewards precision over brute force. While it may not be the most polished track, Sammons delivers excellent bang for your buck and enough challenge to keep you coming back.
Overall: Affordable, fun, and challenging—but with room for improvement in tee box conditions and...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible and i try to keep my opinion to myself when a negative one. The greens are atrocious. 90% of the greens are missing 90% of the grass and this is no exaggeration. Management has kept poor care of this course for several years now. Everything is basically poor to any true golfers standards. City of Temple should have fired the manager a long time ago for how poorly this course has been kept. My last and final experience there is when I pulled up on my collectors item motorcycle to get a cheese steak from the grill. They were closed early, of course, and the manager was obviousley intimidated by a guy on a motorcycle. He was agitated and asked me to move it somewhere besides where the carts were parked. I obliged and the next thing I know I am being accused of some false, but serious accusations. This guy is dishonest in every since of the word and the course he runs is obsurdly less than par. I would avoid this place and if they make you pay full freight just take some pictures of the greens to the city managers office to get...
Read moreMy son and I went to the indoor pool today. The pool was wonderful. It was very clean and I felt safe there. There was not any Adults only sessions open.. There were several children there that did not have parental supervision. They were there they just didn't control their children. And they kept getting in the way of our space and there was another woman there that was just doing exercises in the pool on the side of the pool. One child kept running and plopping down on the ramp so that he splashed this lady and I. Actually it wasn't the fact that he did it once but he kept doing it and finally the other lady told him to stop. They were also running and the lifeguard did not stop them or even tell them not to do it. I hope next time that we get to schedule an...
