2 small hallways took 5 months to finish!
All I needed was tile and trim installed on two small hallways. Each one being less than six feet in length and 3 feet in width.
We started this project back in September 2021. It didn’t get complete until February 2022. Everything was paid for upfront.
The company is lacking interpersonal communication skills between the employees as well as with the customer. I had to reach out to the company several times in the last 5 months just to get an update. No one would give us an update unless I reached out first. I understand supply chain issues. All I asked was for better communication. Alex was the only rep that tried her best to communicate.
The managers were the worst at correspondence. I talked to several managers during the last five months.
The technicians that installed the trim the first time around thought it was ok to have two different colored wood. The colors were agreed upon back in sept 2021. No changes were made by us. Both pieces of wood were stained the wrong color.
The first time they attempted to install the trim, it was the wrong color. I told them that It wasn’t the color we agreed upon. They packed their stuff up and didn’t even tell us they were leaving for the day. I had to call the office just to see if anyone was coming back today, no one was scheduled to come back. But they left a bunch of supplies near my front door. Didn’t even let us know they were done for the day.
The second time they installed the trim, I had to tell them it’s the wrong color again. The tech tried spray paint the trim because it wasn’t the right color. So i told them that was not an acceptable fix. The tech ripped off the trim and left half of it sticking out on the tile. Pieces of sharp wood stuck out. I had to remove the remaining piece of trim and clean up the adhesive myself before it dried up. That sharp broken piece if wood sticking out could have easily caused an injury.
About 4 months in, I finally got an answer as to why this took so long. They wouldn’t tell me what was going on until I asked them directly.
The vendor they use for their trim sent them the wrong color twice. Then on the third try, they finally gave them the right color. But they failed to mention that to the customer. They just let us sit around with no information. I had to ask them why is this taking so long? The said the trim takes 3 weeks to make and two weeks to ship out to the store. That would have been good to know 4 months ago!
I was told that all the supplies were ordered back in Sept. So one would think they had everything they needed. But when they came, they installed the wrong color twice!
This is not the first time I used them. The first time I used design co, they had issues with supplies due to the supply chain crisis. So I gave them another chance.
After having several issues with communication and subpar installation on the second project, I will never use them again.
Too much stress. I could have installed it faster myself with help...
Read moreMy experience at Design Superstore was poor, however Melanie was very nice. We were having a house being custom built and were instructed to come here to pick out our tile, flooring, and lights. We arrived for our appt with Kim, upon our arrival she states that we were late our appt was at 11:00 and that we are lucky she is still there. I tell her no our appt was at 3pm, she then looks on her desk and finds the note with the 3pm appt. She did not know what level our selections should be, had no plans for the house. After our builder was contacted we proceeded to make our selections. A day or so later I emailed Kim to ask for something with the selections we had made, the day we picked , things were just being written on a piece of paper, nothing formal to show what room had what selections. When i emailed for the selections she replied back she could send something rough or after everything was priced out. A few months go by I email her (she never replies, I finally call) to make sure that our selections have been ordered and there is no issue, due to covid I'm concerned about back orders, she states that nothing has been ordered due to the builder telling her to hold off, which I can understand, but over 2 months later and she did not follow up with builder to see if the order could now be placed?? she does nothing until I call her. She states she will contact my builder and call me back to this day she has never called me back. I contacted my builder since nothing had been ordered told him I would like to go some place else, which is exactly what I did and had a much better experience with a place with much...
Read moreMelanie was VERY helpful with all my questions and the ordering process. She communicated with me via text and email as well as over the phone. I went back and forth a bit thinking I might want tile on my backsplash, but after seeing the cost was significantly higher, I decided to go with the black galaxy on the backsplash, too. Melanie was very patient and didn’t act annoyed by my changes.
I got a call from Luis to schedule my install. Since I needed time to get my island secured I put off the install date and Luis let me know my options.
The 3 guys, Carlos, Justin, and David, arrived earlier than expected which was great. I like how the DesignCo sends texts that have the name AND photo of my expert. They were very careful about the walls when installing the granite. I see a couple places I’ll need to touch up but not a big deal. The guys each checked and rechecked all measurements and made sure everything was level. There’s a seam in the counter above my DW. The sparkle on the right side is quite a bit brighter than on the left. I was very surprised but I’m probably the only one who’ll ever notice.
The guys used the vacuum to catch dust when cuts were being made, as well as cleaning up the dust and debris that fell in the cabinets and on the floor. I definitely appreciated that and they left everything nice and clean.
I love my...
