I called this gentleman and asked him if he could fix old record players and reel to reel players. He assured me that he absolutely could fix them. When I dropped them off he insisted on being paid $150 each in advance, that should have been my red flag. I paid him $300 plus $15 fee for using a credit card and explained to him what I knew to be the issues with each machine. The record player was not running at speed and was not indexing correctly when it changed records. The reel to reel player needed a new drive belt. I wanted both items cleaned and lubricated internally. He called me a day or so later to tell me the record player was ready, but the reel to reel was not good because it needs a new transformer. He also told me it does not use a drive belt as it is direct drive. I told him I know for a fact it uses a drive belt and I have watched a video about how to change it. I did some searching online and found the belt and a transformer. I called him and asked him if he would fix the reel to reel if I brought him the parts, he said no. He declined to work on it. I went to retrieve the machines. I asked him if he had tested the record player to make sure it works properly, he said yes. I convinced him to return $100 of my $157.50 deposit for the reel to reel, after a short discussion. Once I got the record player home, I hooked it up and put a record on it. It is still doing exactly the same things it did before I took it to him. I opened it and looked, he had cleaned it and oiled it, but he had not found or addressed the problems. I called him, he insists he played a record on it and it was fine. He can't understand why it suddenly doesn't work right again.
Long story short, he might be a good TV repairman, but he has no clue about how to work on mechanical machines like record players and reel to reel players. It cost me $215 to learn this, I am passing it along to...
Read moreKinda left a bad taste in my mouth. I brought in a combo tube tv/vcr with a tape stuck in it. TV was powering off after about ten seconds and not enough time to eject the tape. Over the phone he quoted me $20 to free the tape. I told him when I got there that the tape was priority, but if he could also fix the TV for under $50 then go ahead and do so. He got the tape out, but the TV part worked fine, presumably after having been jiggled around in transport. He didn't diagnose anything, and when I asked him what caused the power issue he said he didn't know. But he charged me the $50 as if he had fixed the TV, when it was really a glitch that resolved itself after being jiggled around a bit. Whatever, the TV works and he got the tape out, but I know that guy didn't actually fix anything, he just happened to get the good end of an intermittent problem and...
Read moreNader has worked on several LCD TVs for us over the years and we’ve also purchased a Sony TV from him. He is very professional, knowledgeable, and experienced with electronic technologies. He provided outstanding communication and customer service with our repairs, saving us from replacing our older screens. His prices are very reasonable.
We recently purchased a Klipsch Cinema 600 sound bar from him after an impressive demonstration and we are super happy with that purchase. Our system included the Klipsch Surround 3 surround speakers, which I recommend if you're looking for a true 5.1 surround sound experience without wires. The wireless 10" subwoofer is also incredible. We are very happy with Nader Afshar and Indiana Tee Vee and recommend them for TVs...
