I have stayed at this hotel several times over the past several years whenever we travel to visit my father. It is usually a pleasant stay, this last weekend however turned into a total nightmare. Upon checking in we showered and left to go visit my father. When we returned that afternoon I noticed the amount of pillows in the room wasn't the amount that there normally is and also that we were going to need more towels. I went to the front desk and the lady was nice and accommodated my requests. Well we went swimming and there was a bunch of kids in there yelling and the staff had to come in and tell them to keep it down, on top of that one of them asked to use our towels since they didn't have any. I told him he could and that he could also go to the front and get some from the lady for the rest of them. We finished swimming and took our showers and my wife left put the dirty towels outside the room door and we went to sleep. The next morning we got up and were getting ready to leave when my wife called the front desk and told them that she couldn't find the hair dryer and there is normally one in there. The hair dryer wasn't, no biggie, so we got dressed and proceeded to leave. On the way out I stopped at the front desk with my luggage in my hand and my wife and son as well to check out and also get change. The lady gave me change and then watched us leave. Fast forward a couple hours later when I get out of the visit with my father and notice a missed phone call, it was from the hotel. I call her back and she said that she left a note for housekeeping for the pillows and towels she gave us and that they cant find them. I told her how we put the dirty ones in the hallway and that my wife said she even put some in the basket since the cleaning staff was having a get together in the hallway and just left their carts there blocking the passage. She said ok, everything is fine and hung up. 2 hours later on our drive home I am doing my finances and notice an additional charge on my account from the hotel, they charged me 103 dollars and when I called and asked what was going on the gentleman said I was being charged for missing pillows and a hair dryer. Naturally I was pissed and asked how could that be when I spoke with the lady and clearly my wife called the front about the hair dryer not being in the room, he said I need to talk to the manager and he couldn't do anything. So I proceeded to call the manager and every time I got that he was busy or away from "back there", finally I was able to get in touch with him and he said that he was in that day and that they couldn't find 5 pillows and 9 towels. So my question, is if he is the manager why did he have someone else call me and not rectify the situation at the time of the incident? Then I informed him that I walked right out the front door and spoke with the lady at the desk before leaving, he told me there are several exits and I could have gone out another one. All the exits have cameras throughout the hotel, so when I asked him to check the cameras he informed there was nothing he could do. How did I smuggle 5 pillows and 9 towels out past your camera system when I walked out with the same luggage I walked in with and my suitcases wouldn't even fit that amount of pillows and towels. Apparently I am a magician and stole everything without anyone seeing me or the cameras catching me and on top of that after talking to him about it he basically said at the end, "So you took them right?" Seriously worst experience and staff I have dealt with, we will no longer be staying there and also have contacted my credit card company for the fraudulent charges and contacted corporate about the experience.
Save yourself the hassle and find a different place to stay while in town,.
Update: I had to go through my bank but was given a full refund, no thanks...
Read moreThe staff at the Terre Haute Fairfield (just off exit 7 at Interstate 70) could | NOT BE FRIENDLIER. Super nice. Even offered cookies at breakfast, which seems surprising, but they were going out of their way to be kind.||Desk clerk reported pool has been “under repair” for over a year…a leak that hasn’t been found,||Hotel is hard to see as there is a tiny sign by road and behind trees and large overgrown bushes is a large sign, more than half of which is broken so name is illegible…for about two years at least.||Bushes around hotel are overgrown and almost all mulch washed out.||Pool is marked temporarily closed.||Website indicates on site restaurant. None exists, but there is a Cracker Barrel on the other side of the neighboring La Quinta…which maybe is what they were thinking. (Indianapolis Plainfield Courtyard actually has a grill where you can order dinner items in the lobby…this is a true on site restaurant.)||Popcorn ceilings and walls. Too hard mattress and cheaper pillows and rougher towels than you usually find in a Fairfield. We are Lifetime Platinum so have stayed in a lot of Fairfields, Courtyards, and all the Marriott brands.||Room is clean. Shower has nice built in shelves and is in mostly good condition…needs a little new caulking. Room was mostly quiet. Request side away from ambulance station.||They’ve embraced the age of the hotel with retro styling, which looks nice in lobby, okay in rooms, but hallways feel dark with yellowish lighting and purple/blue carpet feels garish with yellow wallpaper (better in rooms than hall as furniture and art tie colors together more).||This hotel just needs some money spent. Either fix the pool or change it to a seating area or conference room. Fix the entry sign and remove the blocking shrubbery. Collaborate with Cracker Barrel and La Quinta to fix shared entry driveway that has potholes and low areas that flooded easily with a small rain, Buy mulch and fix landscaping.||Most importantly upgrade mattress and pillows. Much can be forgiven with a good night’s sleep, This hotel is clean and safe and a viable option if available at a slightly lower price than the many nearby competitors. I’m Marriott loyal, but would not choose this location again without some much needed maintenance.||Also, please add recycling bins in rooms. It’s been years since I’ve seen a Marriott...
Read moreI have stayed at this particular hotel at least 6 times and was very disappointed in the cleanliness of the rooms this year. (Below is an excerpt from the email I sent the assistant manager). The staff was very nice, but the hotel is run down and needs some attention. The bed was comfortable and appeared clean, other than that I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The continental breakfast is not conducive to a gluten free diet if you have that issue (just to be aware). .
I stayed at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Terre Haute, IN, twice in the past week. On June 23-24, I was in room 319. On June 28-29th I was in room 300. I was sorely disappointed.
On the 23rd, the bathroom floor was dirty, the faux leather on the office chair was shredding (and got onto my slacks), and the tv wouldn’t work. I tried to call the front side desk and the phone rang indefinitely, so I used my iPad to watch a movie. Also of note, the lids for the disposable coffee cups in the room were too small for the cups.
On the 28th-29th, once again the bathroom was not clean, the faux leather on the chair was also flaking off, the coffee cups were too big for the lids, AND THERE WAS MOLD IN THE REFRIGERATOR! Later when I went to get a shower, there was no hot water. I called the front desk and the phone rang and rang, with no answer. After several attempts, I called the hotel from my cell phone and the call was answered immediately. When I inquired why there was no response to the call from the phone in my room, I was told it doesn’t ring in to the desk and it was a known and ongoing issue. SERIOUSLY??? Why was there no guest notification of this and why are the phones even in the rooms? The attendant said he was not aware of the water being an issue in other rooms, and offered to switch my room, but at that point I had driven 8 hours to get there, was exhausted, and standing wrapped in a towel (prepared to shower), crying out of frustration at that point. I was able to access warm (not hot) water later, but had to run the water for...
