I went in to help my mother purchase her first firearm. We went to the rental area so that she could feel which firearm felt the best in her hand. I asked the ladies behind the counter for a sig 365, Glock19, and a HK. I asked my mother how she was going to carry the firearm and she said she was going to carry it in her purse. The ladies said that she needed a smaller firearm for carry. I told my mother this was incorrect if she was going to carry in her purse. I told her to just feel what was most comfortable in her hand. I wanted my mother to pick the firearm she liked, not for an employee to pick it out for her. She said she liked the Glock 43 and sig 365. The range guy took us to the range and was very helpful. We exited and the salesman helped her pick out a sig 365 xl. She started a 4473 and I waited behind her. She asked me for clarity on a question that said “do you live in city limits?” And I told her that was a very broad question since it did not specify it was for terre haute or her hometown. The ladies that do the 4473 said that I could not talk to her at all during the 4473. I didn’t say anything, but I was upset because I knew I couldn’t answer the questions for her but that did not mean I couldn’t talk to her at all. Also if they were really that concerned about it, they should have sat with her to clarify the questions for her. I asked the woman behind the counter why they moved away from the paper form and she said it was easier to keep record of it electronically. She told me that they keep record for ten years. But according to ATF they are supposed to keep the forms for 20 years. The staff on sales floor was great and they would get five stars. I just think the ladies that talked to us needed...
Read moreMy wife wants to start shooting sporting clays with me so we went in to pick up a beretta automatic for her. I've spent my entire life around shooting ranges my dad owned one for 25 years and my wife and I own a lead reclamation business and we travel around the U.S. cleaning up shooting ranges. I currently shoot an a400 automatic with a 30" barrel and we were looking for something similar but with a shorter barrel and LOP that fit her better. Their website showed they had an a300 20 ga in stock but it was no where to be found so we decided on a 1301 pro comp 12 ga with a 24" barrel. It was a much shorter barrel so she could swing it easier and it has removable shims that we can shorten it up for her. My wife doesn't know much about shotguns yet so I was doing most of the talking. After we told him we would take the gun he asked who would be doing the paper work and I told him my wife since it's her gun. He then gave us a long sigh and said he that wouldn't work since I had been doing most of the talking and he said I could be a straw person sale trying to get her to do the paperwork. My wife wouldn't know a good shotgun from a bad shotgun and I was just trying to help her get the best gun for what she would be using it for and it was very rude of him to accuse us of that. I'm 6'3" tall and my wife is 5'2". I have no idea why he thought I would be interested in buying a such a little gun for myself and go thru the trouble of having my wife hold and swing the guns and make sure we could remove the shims to fit her. This was our first and will be our only top gun experience we both were pretty upset when we left about the accusations he made. I would not let someone work for me if they treated...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of taking the Women's Introduction to Handgun class with Eric Cunningham, and it was an exceptional experience. The instructor's extensive knowledge and expertise were immediately evident, instilling confidence in all of us from the start. Safety was always the top priority, and this was emphasized throughout the course. The instructor made sure we understood the importance of handling firearms responsibly, and every safety protocol was thoroughly explained and demonstrated.
One of the standout aspects of the class was the respectful and encouraging environment the instructor fostered. As women, we were all treated with the utmost respect, and our questions and concerns were addressed with patience and understanding. This created a comfortable learning atmosphere where we felt empowered to develop our skills.
Moreover, the instructor dedicated a significant amount of one-on-one time with each participant. This personalized attention allowed us to receive tailored guidance and feedback, greatly enhancing our learning experience. By the end of the class, I felt much more confident in my ability to handle a handgun safely and effectively.
Overall, I highly recommend the Women's Introduction to Handgun class to any woman interested in learning about firearms. The knowledgeable instructor, emphasis on safety, respectful treatment, and personalized instruction made it a truly valuable and...
