Terrible experience with Austyn. This is my 2nd time at this location. The first time, a lady cut my hair and she did a great job. I decided to come back and try a different stylist named Austyn this time.

I usually don’t trust new people with hair but he had good reviews so I gave it a try. My first red flag was when he faced the chair opposite way to the mirror and told me that’s how he cuts it. Okay, not comfortable with it because I can’t see what he’s doing but whatever. He asked me how much I wanted off and I told him quarter of an inch is fine.

He proceeded to cut my hair and when he showed it to me in the mirror, right away I saw he cut way more than quarter of an inch. He asked me how it is and I told him obviously it was much shorter than I wanted. He took it very personally and told me “I didn’t cut more than half an inch anywhere”. I showed him cut hair from the ground which was clearly 2 inches long and he proceeded to make excuse that it was for blending. At first I let it go but then he asked me again if it was fine and I smiled and said it’s much shorter. This time he took it personally and said “do you have credentials?” And “don’t teach me”. Usually at all good salons they would apologize or say that they’ll be careful next time but this dude was arguing the whole time and got personal. He said for someone who doesn’t wanna argue you sure are using words that day otherwise.

Not only did he mess up my hair, he also proceeded to was incredibly rude after he cut way more than I asked. I didn’t want to continue going in circles as nothing could be changed so I paid and left.

Came here after seeing good reviews for the salon and for Austyn in particular. Despite the glowing reviews for him, I personally had a bad experience and got one of the worst haircuts I think I have ever received.

I asked for a mid-skin fade (which I have told to multiple different barbershops in the past and all understood) but it seems like he didn't fully understand what I wanted. He then started cutting my hair but had me facing away from the mirror and didn't offer me to look at how it looked until the very end. I mentioned that I didn't want the fade to go too high on the side and he still cut it as he said that's the way to do the fade. Unfortunately now it looks like the side of my head was just buzzed and even the fade looks unclean. When I asked him about it he seemed to get defensive and said that this was just how it had to be done. I had purposefully grown out my hair before this to ensure this wouldn't happen but it did and he sounded like it was my fault.

To those considering coming here just be sure to be extremely explicit and ask lots of questions and follow-ups. My main disappointment was simply that he didn't ask to confirm or offer times to give input until the very end. At the time I expressed my disappointment and he was helpful in providing a 20% discount and said he will make a note for next time. Ive been a regular here for a while and everyone had been super considerate and careful when it came to the way I wanted my hair done. For that reason, I was never picky on the stylist I wanted to take over my haircut. However today a lady I hadn’t seen before, Rainne I believe is her name, took over my haircut today. Immediately she was incredibly aggressive with the way she started cutting my hair. She rushed the whole thing, lacked any caution, and even swiped at my eyebrow piercing with a comb. I had asked for a low taper and for her to fix my sideburns. I didn’t want anything off the top because I told her verbatim I liked the way it parted. After she finished the low taper, which was in maybe 5 minutes or less, she asked if I wanted anything off the top. I just assumed she had forgotten what I said earlier, which was no big deal, and as I was looking at my hair to see if I truly wanted anything off the top, she suggested I take an inch off. Now this is on me for agreeing, but she ended up taking the inch off and my hair wouldn’t part the way I wanted it to. She also didn’t clean off my face, neck, and offered to put pomade on my hair despite already telling her I don’t use product. Also, every time I had come here I paid 35, but for whatever reason she charges me 41 despite not giving me an elevated service.
