We were searching for a quick sushi meal, and this place didn't look like much on Google, but it had 5 stars, so we gave it a try. IT'S WORTH 5 STARS! We went as an early dinner around 3 pm on a Saturday, got a sushi combo and a poke combo, and 2 more rolls for the two of us. The combos are well portioned, so we definitely had to take home leftovers. The combos came with gyoza, which I never order, but since it came with, I obviously ate it. It surprised me, so crispy on the outside but juicy and flavorful on the inside. You could tell how fresh it was. The sushi was superb and had large cuts of fish. The flavors were great and not like typical sushi, such as adding pepper on the fish. I would 100% go back. These hole in the wall places are some times the best, as they focus on the food. But the service was amazing too! It's counter service and the owner/chef still came and chatted with us and made sure everything was good. Clean-up, to-go containers and water are self-service so you could help yourself, free miso soup, and the restaurant was clean and quaint. It was the perfect, quiet spot we were looking for, but still had enough business coming in at this odd hour to let us know we made a...
Read moreWell, I hate to write a poor review, but this is what I wish I would have known before dining in.
It's not terrible. Some dishes are decent, but if you think you'll get a decent sit down dine in experience for the $40 price tag, this isn't it.
This is what a Japanese style sushi restaurant would be if it was made by Amazon and owned by a McDonald's franchise owner. The manager is kind, but everything else is cold, transactional, and mass-produced.
You use a touch kiosk (no menu) with most items using the same fake, copy-paste thumbnail. You get a bottle of Sam's Club water (no glass) to go with your styrofoam bowl of miso soup (you serve yourself). The ramen trades blows with the instant ramen you find at Walmart. The fish is decent, but it's hard to mess that up. Your salads are a pile of fake crab on iceberg, with some pretty good chicken on top. I'm sure their food is very consistent at least because they hardly cook anything. More like reheating with style.
It would be four or five stars if the price was honest to what you get, but this place is out of touch. And please clean your...
Read moreMy friend & I decided to swing by & try this out for the first time. Very clean & liked the atmosphere & has a bit of a traditional Japanese feel to it. It has a unique setup where you walk in and are essentially greeted by digital kiosk with pictures of the menu along the wall where you order at. The manager greeted us and went over the menu and what was most popular. He was extremely nice and even had a good conversation with us about the Dallas Stars (go Stars!). They have a self-serve water machine and a little spot for plasticware and to-go items, even plastic bags for any leftovers. My friend got the "Hungry combo" and I got the "Midway combo". I'll start with our one and only complaint, the potsticker was mediocre and the Egg Roll was partly cold but that was it. Everything else was most excellent and my friend & I especially loved the California roll! I know they are very common and kind of a staple but nonetheless it was probably one of the best California rolls I ever had! Will definitely be back soon and recommend and encourage anyone to try it out and support a...
