I went today Tues. July 4th @ 5:35pm to DONATE some items for CCA, as I have done multiple times in the past. When I pulled up there was another vehicle in front of Me unloading some of there items for donation. There has been $1,000's of Dollars worth of items donated from Me and My family over the course of the 8+ years We have been in The Colony. Today I have reached a point to were I feel your core values and message has been diminished due to the fact that what I believe to be one of your employees confronting both of the vehicles there in a very demeaning and cynical manner . She yelled at us for "dumping illegally" , and then proceeded to video tape our cars and take photos of us and our vehicles, and threatened to report us if we were to proceed, without any explanation or letting us speak. The manner in which she conveyed this message was disturbing, being that I am a person of faith and I would hope to donate items that are in good conditioned to help out this community as opposed to just throwing them away. Given the fact that CCA solely relies on donations from the community ,Her approach was disrespectful and absolutely uncalled for. There was no need to confront any of us as if we were intentionally breaking the law. There are no signs posted in the rear of the donations area stating that they were not going to be open or accepting donations today. The only hours sign that was visibly posted is on the front door that reads very clearly Mon. – Sat. 10am-8pm with no indication of holiday hours. Lights were on in the building as I drove by afterwards. The garage door was closed, but lets face it sometimes people close doors when it is 90 Degrees outside in Texas. It does seem ironic that there is a now hiring sign posted on the front door, if this is how an employee is treating the people that are giving away items to be sold for free, how are the employees being treating that are getting paid. The lady was an African American in what appeared to be in Her late 40's driving a white BMW. I would like to continue to support the CCA please if this was an employee direct Her to learn ways on how to effectively communicate as opposed to representing your business...
Read moreWe decided to stop and look around the store. There is a good selection of items, mostly women's clothing and shoes. The selection for men or teens is limited. The children's section barely exists. If you're looking for household items, good luck. This store mostly caters to women. It's too expensive, the prices are outrageous. I would suggest making the trip to the Thrift Giant located in Denton, TX off the loop next to the Walmart. They have better pricing. A thrift store is supposed to have cheap affordable prices. Most items here are priced $5.99 and above. That's cheap if you're using one of their deals, like the tag deal of the day, but then you'll have to come in only on certain days when the deals are being offered. Otherwise have fun paying outrageous prices for each item that you buy. Also, some of their staff if rude. The Hispanic women that work as cashiers are hostile and don't bother to act courteous. I had to ask two of them that were just standing around if they were cashiers. One of them ignored me and the other one gave the stink eye replying back with a simple no. With COVID happening, you'd think they'll ring you up as quickly as possible to get you out of the store, but nope. Everyone wore masks inside the store, which was a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, some of the staff didn't bother to wear the masks correctly. Some wore them around their neck, others didn't cover the nose. I get that it's hot to breathe in them, but the store owner should at least provide for them a face shield. Also, they sell masks here for a dollar in case you forget your mask. Anyway, good luck to anyone shopping here. I will not be coming back or recommending this thrift...
Read moreWe don't shop here, but we do donate. And we don't donate junk. We believe it helps to do good works. So I cannot comment on the prices. Have been in the store, and it is a "D+" in my opinon.
What I will review is our donations. 2nd one in about a month and a half. The first was a nice queen sleigh bed. I had it wrapped in furniture blankets to deliver it. On arrival, guy on the dock tossed it around like it was cord wood! Oh well, I donated it with the heart they could make money to thelp the community. If they want to tear things up, that is less for them.
Today, brought three boxes to the dock. Three guys working the dock doing busy work. No other cars in line. Stood there for a while with the tailgate down, no acknowledgement; Boo, Hiss, Hi, drop dead, nothing! Finally, one of the guys walked over. I go "How you doing?" NOTHING! No hi, good afternoon, KMA, nothng but a bit of "side eye."
I pull the boxes to the end of the tailgate and he tosses one box into the cart, takes an item through the double doors and disappears. I finish unloading and drive off.
This wll be the last time I bring anything here. I was just too hot and tired to drive to Frisco for a donation to Operation KIndness for the animal shelters.
I would rather my property go to Operation KIndness. This place has some serious customer service matters to address! And it's not a language matter, you can smile and greet people properly. A smile is a universal language.
I hope those in charge see this and square it away. My next donation items are headed to Frisco. 150%...
