Rent Adventure — Local services in Thermopolis

This was the trip from hell! We hadn't ever done it before and it would've been so much easier/more pleasurable if the staff had encouraged us to rent paddles. We rented a double tube and (2) single tubes. Our 6 year old son hated it and was scared the entire time, our 12 year old got separated from us and was scared to death and my husbands float lost its air. We paid to go the long trip and get picked up at the Hot Springs boat ramp, but cut it short and stopped at the first flag. The water you have to wade through to get to the bank in that particular spot was disgusting. Again, wouldn't have been bad if we'd had paddles.

Also, the current was excruciatingly slow that day. It was a pretty boring trip. At times, it seemed as if we were just sitting there. Lots of people out fishing that day and we had to try to weave around them...

If we ever do another float trip - we will def rent paddles. In fact - paddles should just come with the rental fee of the tube.

This was a great experience on our trip to Thermopolis! I recommend going down to where your get out point is because the stop at the store is easy to miss! My boyfriend & I had to fight the current to get back up to the spot to get out, after being out on the water, in the sun, for 2.5 hours, we were EXHAUSTED! Then you have to carry your kayak up the hill back to the shop. If you’re not physically able to do that, I highly encourage you ask for assistance in some way (I have a fractured foot & didn’t know about any of this, so it was a little rough!). Also, there is an option for them to bring your vehicle from the entrance (wedding of the waters) to the exit (either the shop or the park) for $30, so nice option! Dusty and Michael are the best. We wanted to do a float down the Bighorn and because we had our own Kayak, arranged for a shuttle service. It went off without a hitch. The best thing we loved about Rent Adventure is because of these two guys' hospitality. Dusty was super helpful when we callled and went we called the next morning again to confirm what we needed to do regarding an AIS sticker, not only did Dusty help us with the right answer, but Michael, who was on the road, called us back afraid that he had missed our call.
