Avas Silver & Rock Shop — Local services in Thermopolis

Eddy, Ava, and their shop are just the greatest thing we stumbled upon! We had to make a (long) day trip to Cody and being the lover of all rocks that I am, I immediately spotted this place on the side of the road. Fortunately, on the way home, we got to stop here. I love, love, love rocks (and dinosaurs), but am, by no means, an expert on either topic. I learned SO MANY COOL THINGS today! Not only do they have a large selection of rocks, they have dinosaur bones, fossils of all kinds (dinosaur, fish, trilobite, etc.), teeth (dinosaur, sharks - including megaladon!), and jewelry and carvings out of all of thee above!! The only reason I left is because my husband said we still had a long drive home. 😒 I cannot wait to take some of my collected rocks back to Eddy and Ava for identification...

This has to be one of the best rock shops I’ve ever been to. I’ve never gone out of my way to make a review before. While shopping, I accidentally dropped one of the rocks on the floor and it shattered. Immediately I was expecting to get scolded and fussed at, and was fully ready to pay for it. However, the owners were calm and collected and told me not to worry and to just get another. I was so surprised by this just because being as clumsy as I am I’ve dropped things a few times throughout my life, and the responses weren’t always (understandably) great. The prices were astoundingly low and is definitely worth coming back for the people alone. Not many geological stores have actual professionals let alone people eager to show you around and tell...

I have never left a Google review before but this place was such an unexpectedly awesome stop, both for me and my kids! Eddy is wonderful with people of all ages and his vast knowledge and fun little gifts made this one of my best "shopping" experiences of all time. He was so patient and helpful to my kids while entertaining them at the same time, making me want to buy even more because he made every little thing my kids touched seem like the latest, greatest invention! And, ultimately, they're just rocks! He & Ava have an extremely vast collection of stones in all their varied states. We don't come to Thermopolis often but we will definitely be stopping...
