This establishment illegally denied me access and service because I had my trained service dog with me. They demanded papers, I tried to inform them that is not the law and a service dog is not required to have papers. I gently suggested that as a business they should become acquainted with the law concerning service animals. Two employees then told me that I could take my business elsewhere. That is fine with me as I do not care to contribute to a business that has so little concern for veterans and others with disabilities that need assistance, to learn the law. For future reference I will leave the info here:
What is a service animal? Under the Americans with Disabilities Act a service animal is one that is trained to do work or perform a service for an individual with a disability. The disability may not be visible.
What must a business do when a service dog enters their establishment? The service animal must be permitted to accompany the individual with the disability to all areas of the facility whare customers are typically allowed to go. An individual with a service animal may not be segregated.
ADA Title II, sustained by Dept. Of Justice; Civil Rights Division 28 CFR section 35.102 subpart a.
Under ADA 1990 businesses MAY ask: Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability?
What work or task has the animal been trained to perform? Only one must be named.
Businesses MAY NOT ask:
For special identification of the animal. About the person's disability. To charge additional fees because of the animal. To refuse admittance, isolate, segregate, or treat the person less favorably than other patrons.
EDIT: The owner Jenny states that according to video footage there was much more to the story. I challenge her to post said...
Read moreWe went in on 10/22 in the afternoon. We were in town to enjoy Hot Springs State Park for a few days, and it apparently this bar is one of the only places with a soft tip board, lol. SO glad we went.
What a great bunch of people, so friendly and welcoming! Both of the gals behind the bar were great, the bar & bathrooms are clean, no smoking inside, has a newer Bullshooter dart board and a pool table. Lots of TVs with sports on and we were very happy with the prices. (Bottle of domestic beer and double shot of Capt Morgan on the rocks was 10.00, which is better than Cheyenne's prices, lol) We had multiple regulars strike up conversations with us and we had a blast. We are seriously considering moving up here. I think we'd fit right in....
Read moreI was just informed that 2 employees of this establishment told a disabled veteran with a service dog to, " take her business elsewhere". When she arrived the employees asked to see "papers" that the dog was indeed a service dog. That is not the law and this establishment violated a veterans civil rights. A formal complaint will be forthcoming with the alcohol beverage control and licensing board and quite possibly an expensive civil suit. I urge any disabled veteran or others with disabilities to not patronize this business. This establishment is a disgrace!...
