My mother and I visited this location on March 14, 2020, as I was looking for some specific herbs by Brigel Enterprise that I purchase regularly at the Sunrise location in Country Club Hills and hopeful that Sunrise Lansing had the items. Fortunately, they did.
However, in all of my numerous visits to the Sunrise stores, I have never had such a HORRIBLE experience as I did at Sunrise Lansing. My mother was looking for a certain supplement and a Sales Associate was walking down the aisle. My mother said “excuse me” to catch the attention of the Sales Associate by the name of Alice or Allison (red curly hair) as she passed by us. My mother assumed that she did not hear her, so my mother said “excuse me, young lady”. My mother is a gentle and sweet old lady.
This rude, uncivilized and possibly racist Sales Associate turned around and nastily and loudly told my mother that she was “busy”. I could not believe my eyes or ears...
Needless to say, I was horrified and shocked at her disrespectful tone and behavior, not to mention extremely poor customer service. I told the Sales Associate to “DO NOT speak to my mother that way”, and if she was busy, all she needed to say was that she “would be right with my mother”. She apologized, but at that point, her blatant disrespect overshadowed the apology, which was disingenuous anyway. This person should NOT be working at Sunrise, let alone any retail establishment that values their customers.
We spoke to a manager, by the name of Christina, bringing the ugly and disrespectful encounter to her attention. Christina was genuinely apologetic and noted that the Sales Associate’s behavior was unbecoming of Sunrise Health Foods ethos.
Again, I have never witnessed such disrespect in all of my numerous times of patronizing Sunrise Health Foods and I am a very regular customer of Sunrise Country Club Hills, spending $100’s on herbs and other holistic products...
Read moreVery disappointed by my recent experience. Yesterday I purchased a few items which included a 4-gallon box of water. I was unable to lift this box myself & asked for help with carry out. Everyone saw me standing with one bag and assumed I was being "extra" even the woman doing spinal exams standing near my checkout line. What's even sadder was that I was asked by this woman "is that all you have"? (Her opportunity to ask if I had back problems which she did not) instead --a customer recognized her & they chuckled together as to say "yea girl I was thinking the same thing why does she need help with that bag" being nosey as hell & unhelpful. When the cashier saw two guys who could help they were rude to her aloud saying they were both too busy. Customers behind me even frowned. I feel I was treated unfairly because I was dressed like a teenager and I know I look good for a 36yr old woman with 4 kids but damn I guess I was expected to throw the box on my back. I'm 5"5 135-140 lbs. I stood at checkout for at least 10 mins as others were being checked out just waiting and looking ridiculous with my one bag in one hand (& gallon of water in the other) waiting for assistance. Read moreI really like this place, but some items are just laughably expensive. I have been coming here (at random) for many years. Especially expensive are the Amy’s TV dinners. Do your research before coming here.
That being said, they do carry some items like Dr Kombucha (expensive but worth it) that I would drive out of my way from northwest IN to get. My husband LOVES these also. Because he is a former Dr Pepper addict. Lol.
I do see long lines that are slow moving for the smoothies like people complain about, but I don’t buy them because of my no sugar diet. In the past, I remember them being delicious though.
The staff are quiet and to themselves. They don’t say anything or greet you. This does not bother me that much, because I come from a background where this is not common place anyways. But I could see why some people would be put off by it. Especially for the prices they are asking.
Sorry but this is an honest review. I still plan on doing business with them but I am extremely picky and selective over what I would buy. If they adjusted the price is for certain things I would be willing to buy them, on top of that I am paying the...
