Took my dogs for grooming, got fleeced instead. This review is specifically for the Snazzy Jazzy's Towson location. I decided to give it a try, as the location is convenient and one of their groomers had previously groomed my 2 Samoyeds at another grooming business which had since closed down during Covid. In my 7 years of taking my Samoyeds to various groomers in the Baltimore area, I've never paid more than $110 per dog, or a total of $220. When I picked up my dogs yesterday, I was asked to pay the astronomical amount of $575! In utter shock, I asked why so much, and was told that my one dog was $250, + $50 for undercoat and de-shedding, +$25 for "special handling." That's $325 for one dog, and $250 for my other dog. I tried voice my concern this was a ridiculous amount of money and that I should have been notified in advance of such an unreasonable amount of charges, but my concerns were dismissed. I tried to call the manager to discuss the breakdown of the costs but to no avail. I sent a message through their internal messaging system, only to receive a dismissive response similar to the previous gentleman's response, basically stating "our price is the price." The poor explanation of the cost? "Our breed-specific pricing for Samoyeds is $150-500." How can any reputable business have such a broad gap in the cost of grooming without notifying the client of extra charges in advance? To this question, I was told that it was my responsibility to request an estimate before hand, when their website sates $100+ for a Large sized dog. Furthermore, I was told "their behaviour during the brushing process (which may have been painful given the degree of coat)" basically caused the extra charges. Then, I was practically scolded for not brushing my dogs regularly or taking them for consistent grooming. I was told that they had not been groomed in a while. By the way, my family and I brush our dogs every day, and they are groomed professionally every 8 weeks. Assuming that one has $575 readily available is quite insulting, and I want other dog owners who are considering having their pups groomed here to be aware of the unjustifiable cost. I will continue to take my pups to Best Friends Furever in Cockeysville, where they receive exceptional grooming and care, and where they've maintained the costs of their grooming services even through our times of inflation. And in response to the insulting comment from the rude manager, Ellie, below, my dogs were last groomed on May 1st. I have the receipt to prove this but will no longer engage with her belittling ways. She will berate you as she has done to other customers, according to how she believes you groom your dogs, to justify her business's...
Read moreWent here as a first time customer to get my dog's nails clipped as we just moved out this way. Everything went pretty smoothly, in and out in probably about 5 minutes. As we pull up to our house, I noticed the blood stains on my backseat from my dog's back paw. I returned to the establishment to ask for a refund as I didn't think I should have to pay for a service that will ultimately cost me in the future for the blood stain removal. That's when things went downhill.
The first associate I talked to said that they must have cut too close and mentioned that they put some sort of medicine whenever this happens and that usually stops the bleeding. I replied "well, clearly not" as the associate walked to the back to get someone else (maybe a member of management?) to come out and assist. Another associate returned and I relayed the same message: "I don't expect to be reimbursed for the upholstery cleaning, but I do expect a refund". The new associate said the same as the previous of the medicine usually working. After some back and forth, the new associate said she would give me a refund but that I should also "leave and never come back". She went on to say that sometimes the asphalt on the ground breaks away the medicine causing the blood to still come out. So, a quick recap:
They cut too close to my dog's paw, causing her to bleed and never mentioned this to me or my wife while we were there the first time. They put some special medicine on my dog's paw but failed, again, to tell me that it doesn't really work because the asphalt outside tears it off. They then get aggressive towards me and "banish me for life" when I ask for a refund.
All this could have easily been avoided by just telling me during the first visit that they accidentally clipped too close and caused some bleeding. I have a gym towel in my trunk and could have put it down on the seat for the ride home. Instead, they kept quiet and got defensive during my second visit. All it would have taken is 5 seconds to avoid this entire mess...
I cannot vouch for their grooming or dog care services, but I will say this. Please ask up front for them to communicate any mistakes that may happen or risk a couple hundred dollar upholstery...
Read moreEdit to add: To clarify, his nails were not growing into his paw pads, his specialty dermatology vet has checked them during his recent visit and I personally check them multiple times a week. It’s disappointing to see that kind of false claim used to deflect responsibility. If the manager or another team member had explained what happened, we would not be as upset, as we are aware that accidents happen. After the manager knew we were upset, they claimed they were planning to come out and explain to us, but when they came out we were already gone. Better communication amongst this team would have helped to mitigate this issue as no one told us to wait and discuss the nail appointment. I've read other reviews on this page where this business claims "any time anything happens in our care we notify the owner right away". Since my dog was bleeding, and I was not notified until I reached out and made the business aware that I was upset, I am left to wonder, did the business break policy or did the policy change? The manager told me over text that they knew they were clipping the nail too short, but chose to continue anyway to “get the nail away from the paw pad”. Our dog receives excellent care and attention. We know that nail trims induce anxiety for him and attempted to muzzle him for the safety and respect of the employes. We will not be returning but chose to post this review so future clients could be aware of our experience. Instead of misrepresenting his condition and publicly disrespecting pet owners, professionalism and accountability should be upheld. Thanks.
Original: My poor dog has so much anxiety surrounding nail trims. He won’t let us do it at home so we decided to bring him here. The employees were nice but when we came out he was breathing very heavy and seemed distressed. We brought him to the car and quickly noticed blood on the back seats from his nail. He has never been injured with a nail trim before and will likely have even more anxiety surrounding it now. Very disappointed and upset with the poor communication as they did not tell us to wait or explain what had happened when I asked if we were...
