Meijer — Local services in Toledo

While I like the remodel, but finding a simple, plain T-shirt was next to impossible. I know it's school time, so I just chalked it up to that. I always check out the indoor plants for sale every time I'm there. This time I noticed a shopping cart FULL of what looked like plants that were being discarded. They were literally dumped over, half dead, containers chipped, etc. I assumed (shame on me for that) they were being thrown away but no sign was hung on tbe cart for clearance yet. So, I picked about 5 plants to "rescue" and figured I'd speak with a manager when I got to a register. My total trip was for a card, ice cream and now these plants. Once I got to the cashier, I explained to her where these plants were at and I was hoping to get a clearance price for them so they don't get thrown away. First she asked me to get a manager (um, no). So, she flagged down her manager who came to me. I told the manager that these plants looked as if they were being discarded and wanted to know if I could get clearance price for them. The manager said that "yes, they probably are going to be discarded and I was welcome to purchase the plants, AT FULL PRICE." Remember, they're half dead with broken planters, tossed in a shopping cart. I asked the manager, "so you mean to tell me that I have to pay full price for these or they get thrown away anyway? How does that possibly make any sense? If the items are being thrown away, doesn't that mean you're taking a loss rather than getting something for them?" I told her I don't want them and that policy makes absolutely ZERO sense. I was actually rather angry because it showed just how greedy the store has become. Not so sure about shopping here any more if this is how they will continue to conduct business. Not to mention my PAPER card was bagged WITH my ice cream. Just dealt with it this very racist and unprofessional manager at Meijer on Alexis by the name of Kalene K..... My wife and I came through after the loss of her sister to quickly grab some supplies for her final resting day on Friday.... And for some reason our checkout malfunctioned in self checkout... Then preceeded to tell us we needed to pay again...and Pay more cash... After already paying!!! So the attendant for the area who was very helpful I must add.. Tried to get the register to work properly. Unfortunately... It would not!! Then at that point this lady... Or man... Was not sure at first due to her very very unprofessional attire.... Came up and rudely told us it would take 20 minutes for their cameras system to verify that I paid! At that point... I said ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no.... We can just stop all this right here and process my refund I am not waiting for your cameras to process anything.... Your system is malfunctioning... Not me. The lady over the area specifically seen that my register said fully paid... Then glitched and said we owed cash amount again!!! This lady would not let me leave... And barely processed my refund! Very rudely I must add... With some very very racist undertones!!! From her attitude... To her level of unprofessionalism.. To her attire like she's some auto mechanic at Midas... All of these things right here would dictate that they obviously have the wrong type of people in management positions!! No worries.... Because I don't shop here anyways! So no love lost! I just have a question no one can answer me in the store my mom and dad are elderly and can't move very well as most people get in their older age they have constantly changed the layout of the handicap for some reason unknown they made two spots right next to the doors that are regular parking that all the handicapped people have to walk around I understand it may be because they were parking their carts in the road if that's the case then put striped lines in an area through there and give them room there's no reason why there should be two spots closest to the front door for healthy people to walk in and out of it's bad enough that people Park in between cars their people sit in their cars with no signs I know it's a civil matter but it seems like there's just no respect in Toledo anymore people don't realize how bad they need a spot close to the door unless they need it themselves my dad Waits sometimes an hour just to get a line up near the door you'd think Myers could do better then to give a healthy two-legged person two of the best spots by the front door I approached a man today asking him why he parked there not knowing that they were not handicapped he told me they wasn't coming to find out he works for Meijer driving his Mercedes-Benz why are people so arrogant and lazy oh well I know this is a civil matter I never leave reviews but the commitment to stupidity in them two lanes in front of that door...
