I took my Dell laptop in to have it serviced following a fluid spill. The good thing is that the team at TopCity were able to get my laptop running again.
However, I have a couple of criticisms (and thus just 3 stars). First, they are not good a communicating what is going on. If I wanted progress updates, I had to call them myself. Initially, this was due to the fact that they had taken my phone number down incorrectly (which, was partially my fault because I did not catch the error myself when I looked over the copy of the paperwork they gave me). However, despite giving them the correct phone number, it was still difficult to get them to phone me with updates, even when they said they would phone. For instance, I was assured that I would receive a phone call when the work was completed, but one never came. After 3 business days, I finally reached out to them, and they said that it was done..
Secondly, I had some screws that were stripped out on the computer (thanks to the work of another shop). While TopCity repeatedly assured that those screws would be replaced, they never were.
In short, they may be able to fix your computer, but you will probably have to check-in with them to make sure the work is being done and that your computer is not just...
Read moreMy husband dropped off his Nana's printer last week to get a realignment. The place was suggested by a friend. The gentleman, I suppose the owner, told him that is would be no more than three days, and that he would call him before he did any work to discuss pricing and what needed done. Fast forward to today. My husband had to call THEM, and received a call back. Apparently they had been trying to contact my husband via email, information he never supplied to them, instead of via the phone number he did supply. He was told they would CALL BEFORE work was done. Well then. Who they were emailing since last week, I don't know, bless their hearts. My husband was given a total for the work done when he was called back, even though he was told he would be contacted to discuss pricing and the work that the printer needed. $31isn't bad for what needed done, to be honest; however, the gentleman did a poor job at communicating and keeping his word. He's a friendly man, but his scheduling and communication is obviously atrocious. Get a secretary or something to help you, buddy. Heavens forbid it had been a more expensive fix, or a different piece of equipment. A fix is a fix, I guess, no matter how mislead my husband...
Read moreI discovered Top City Tech when my gaming computer, Betsy, went belly up. I tried troubleshooting it myself, but was only able to get so far until it became clear to me that there was a hardware issue beyond my control. I work in Topeka so googled computer repair shops in the area and found Top City Tech. When I took it in I told the young man what was wrong with it and asked that they look at it and quote me what the repair would be, and I mentioned that dependent on the cost to fix it I might just end up buying a new computer instead of forking hundreds over to fix an old one. He let me know that in that event they could make a custom build for me in my price range, which was about $1,000, and after they looked at the old computer that was what we ended up doing. I now am content with Betsy 2.0, a gaming rig that no longer howls when I play Baldur's Gate 3 or Elden Ring. I definitely recommend this business for both computer repair and custom builds, they did a really good job and were very responsive.
Thank you,...
