I made a HUGE mistake contacting this business to repair my clothes dryer (it's simple issue, the contact button to run the dryer would not stay down). When I called them, I spoke with a woman there. She told me it will be $35.00 for the technician to come and access to problem, I agreed. The technician came and a few minutes later he told me that I needed a new motor. Then he told me it was $149.95 for the visit. I told him I was told it was $35.00 (He pulled out a piece of paper to show me that's the charge for coming to Litchfield). Although their business is only a few minutes from my house. I couldn't believe it!!! I paid him and agreed to continue the repair process due to my $149.95 already invested. Days later he came back and finished the repair work. I paid him an additional $285.95. I did not get to use the dryer immediately because I had to travel. When I got back I used the dryer and the exact problem was still happening. When I contacted them, the owner told me that my 30 days had expired and I needed to pay another $149.95 to access again. I told him the problem was exactly the same. This didn't matter to him. He also said that Whirlpool guarantees the part for one year. And that maybe the new part failed. It's that my fault?! Bottom line, he said I had to pay $149.95 for the initial accessment again and labor when the work was completed. I was too upset to even think about what I had experienced. After wasting $435.95 with this business. I ended up having to buy...
Read moreABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I purchased a GE Profile used range for $599. Right after it was delivered I noticed that, not only was the ceramic cooktop filthy, but the oven was missing a rack. When I contacted them about the missing rack (not even mentioning how I had to clean the cooktop with a razor blade for 30 minutes) I was told to come in with the existing rack to see if their service guy could find one that fit my range. I did and, while I waited, he rummaged around in the basement. I was given one to try but it was too big. I then looked online and found a replacement rack for $45 (plus shipping). I sent Rich the link at which point he said he had no intention of buying the rack for me. To make matters worse, two weeks after the range was delivered, I noticed on my invoice that I had been charged $149 for delivery, rather than the $100 I was originally quoted. When this was pointed out to Rich in an email, he totally ignored me. In the end, I bought a 15-year old range for $801 ($599 + $149 delivery + $54 replacement oven rack). And spent time cleaning a stove I had just bought, driving 50 miles round trip to go back for the oven rack (that didn't fit), searching online for the right part and writing a number of emails to try to straighten things out. If you are looking for used appliances, STAY AWAY. You would be better off buying something for $150 on Craig's List. The customer service would be the same and you'd save a lot of money and...
Read moreRemember when you could buy an appliance from a knowledgeable sales person, have it delivered with care, call on the telephone if there's any issue and have your call taken by a polite and helpful employee and if needed have a repair guy come out who knows what he's doing, on time and gets the job done? Well, that was my experience at Dick Cooper. I will never go to a big box store again for an appliance as long as I can shop at Dick Cooper. I was actually shocked with the experience that I remember many years ago. Gone are the days of personalized experiences in a store but not if you shop at Dick Cooper in Torrington!! We highly...
