International Halal Market — Local services in Town of Amherst

TW: No masks or social distancing, threats. My husband and I are long-term customers of this business, having shopped here for several years. I always liked the owner and employees who always seemed helpful and respectful. That is, until yesterday. Yesterday, my husband and I went in and quickly noticed that not one of the 5 employees in the store was wearing masks. This is unbelievably dangerous (as well as illegal), but we tried to go quickly and stay away from everyone. Now in one aisle there was a younger man (high school or college) who was stocking shelves (Ahmed, we later learned). He was also not wearing a mask. My husband politely asked him to stand back while he shopped to which Ahmed tsk-ed and aggressive said he was working. When my husband asked him where his mask was he got even more aggressive, telling my husband to get out of his way. He actually puffed his shoulders out like he wanted to fight my husband, in addition to threatening to knock my husband down and yelling other things. We called the manager over, and while waiting for him Ahmed walked around glaring and yelling. The manager stood very close to us and told us it was a misunderstanding, while Ahmed was still yelling.

Needless to say this atrocity of customer service will cause us never to visit this store again. I urge caution to everyone else as well, not only because of an illegal lack of masks, but also because of the lack of appropriate action...

Great place the workers are very friendly ! I don’t understand the few reviews that said they’re expensive with the meats? My family eats almost everyday off maybe $150 or $200 they’re very cheap the meat is clean and fresh and it’s halal even the candies !!!! The other reviews are just competitors trying to get business to their store! And to the people that think they’re rude you have to understand they don’t speak perfect English so because of their accent and lack of English dialect their English comes off as rude, if you deal with foreigners a lot you’ll understand what...

The staff here are neither friendly nor welcoming. The cashier never smiled and seemed unapproachable. We purchased a whole chicken and lamb, but they refused to cut the chicken. The meat was pricey and appeared to be a mix of goat and lamb. At home, I discovered that while the top layer of meat looked decent, underneath it was mostly bones. Despite boiling for three hours, it remained tough. Additionally, the box of dates was overpriced at $75. Overall, the service was poor and the products were not worth the price.
