Dear Brinkman Hardware Store,

I am writing to urge your company to signal its continued dedication to protecting the health of people, pollinators and the planet by removing all products containing glyphosate from store shelves and online while increasing offerings of organic and other safer alternatives. One of your company’s top competitors, Costco, has already taken these steps.

I urge your company to meet the growing consumer demand for environmentally friendly garden products, by: • Establishing a time-bound commitment to eliminate all products containing glyphosate from both stores and online sales; • Increasing offerings of organic approved products and other safer alternatives; and • Publicize progress toward these commitments to demonstrate that it has taken steps to protect pollinators and human health will continue to do so.

Along with phasing out sales of glyphosate, I urge your company to ensure that its laudable efforts to eliminate neonicotinoids from plants and products adequately addresses avoiding regrettable substitutes: newly approved neonicotinoids and chemically similar active ingredients, such as sulfloxaflor and flupyradifurone.

Committing to the above actions would demonstrate your company’s continued commitment to sustainability and protecting declining pollinator populations upon which our food supply and healthy ecosystems depend.

Who wants to go to a Home Depot or a Lowe's, when you have your local hardware store with amazing Associates that always greet you with a smile. I remember when brinkman's expanded their store thinking this was going to be a win-win for the neighborhood. I probably pull into that hardware store maybe four times a week and they always have what I need for a small house projects or even boat projects I've been working on recently. Their staff is great! Casey and Rebecca are awesome. And Eric is the man and has always been able to solve what it is I'm looking for. So it's an absolute pleasure to be able to write this review for them. I was introduced to Brinkman’s about five years ago when I moved to Bayport. I was immediately impressed by the feel of the Blue Point location, the layout of the store, and most importantly , by the way I was treated by the staff! The knowledgeable staff goes out of their way to help each customer find what they’re looking for, and answer any questions they might have. I have been a loyal customer for five years and have never been disappointed! Impossible to find a hardware store with a staff that is friendlier and more knowledgeable than the Brinkman’s staff.
