I see that another person is having the same issue I am. The music and art store has been nothing about a nightmare since I started with them. They have consistently placed random charges on my credit card that I have to dispute with my credit card because it is almost impossible to get ahold of someone with music and arts. And if you do get ahold of someone, good luck with speaking to someone with any common sense or intelligence. I would recommend to rent, and/or buy instruments from anywhere else. If you have no choice but to rent from this establishment, then pay cash for the annual payment and do not provide a credit card. The amount of time I have wasted because of this establishment’s incompetence is ridiculous and not one time have they apologized or offered anything compensatory due to their lack of care for customers. I will never recommend music and arts and avoid them like the plague until they go bankrupt. I cringe when I have to drive by the store. STAY AWAY FROM MUSIC AND ARTS AND GO ANYWHERE ELSE TO REMT OR BUY MUSIC...
Read moreI went to this shop today with my child to get their violin strings replaced. They told us it would take about 30 minutes, so we waited there. However, it ended up taking around an hour. Meanwhile, the woman changing the strings kept chatting instead of focusing on the work. What was even more frustrating was that she had one leg crossed over the other, and her dirty shoe kept touching the violin. My child's violin costs over $1,000— not the expensive, but certainly not cheap. The strings alone cost over $80, plus $20 for labor. While it's not outrageously expensive, it's also not cheap. At the very least, there should be some respect for the instrument. Why was she touching the violin with her dirty shoe? That's just basic etiquette. In fact, 30 minutes is more than enough time to replace the strings, yet she showed no sense of apology or consideration for those waiting. In the end, we couldn't trust their work, so we went to another shop to have it checked again. We used to buy things from this store, but after today, we will...
Read moreI have never written a review before but Kim at music and arts in stony Brook was so wonderful today I couldn't resist!! I purchased a A guitar a few weeks ago from this store. Everyone who works there is so lovely to deal with . And their prices are fantastic. But today was the best one yet. Kim, couldn't have been sweeter. I brought the guitar in to be tuned. I did not know if there was a fee or not. Kim, jumped up with a smile on her face and tuned my son's guitar, explaining things to us that I did not understand (because I do not speak musician ) she took her time in the sweetest way possible explaining how to tune a guitar and then at the end...there was no charge! When she went to put it back in the box we brought it in she mentioned that they were guitar cases on sale for as low as $25. I just love when people are competent at their job and do it with a smile on their face. Kim was honestly so terrific I wanted to steal her to come work for me at...
