It is 1014 on January 21. I just finished leaving the restaurant after waiting eight minutes to be greeted at the door a server then came over and got the food that I was waiting for that had been sitting on the table. He checked it over and saw the two sauces were missing. He went to the back and immediately got me the sauces after he already checked the bag another guy seeming to be a manager. Nasty attitude didn’t even say hi he did ask me if I was waiting for an order I said yes and someone was retrieving sauces that were not in the bag. He then proceeded to recheck the bag open up everything all over again as he is opening it up I’m seeing the steam leave the food he then is telling me if I need to go and I am in a rush I could leave I told him no I have come here to get this food and I am waiting. It’s just it has been checked. It was missing two sauces. He then proceeds to tell me that I can leave. I told him again that I do not want to leave. I would like to retrieve my food after getting angry with me. He then gives me the bag and tells me never to come again I then tell him OK not a problem walked away ! I’m leaving this Message on this platform because a customer should never be told not to come to an establishment again all I did was come to pick up the food. Nobody was there to greet me not only that, but I seen the food each and every plate was opened up, not once but twice and when the food was actually eaten it was cold so with this being said, I have given the store ample time to complete the order. I had the order for 20 minutes. I picked up two other things before this and when getting to the store, I waited an extra 15 minutes just to get cold food. This is just unacceptable and I will take his offer to never ever come there again and I will make sure to tell my family and friends to do the same exact thing this is ungrateful, business taking, this is unacceptable. And a customer should never have to feel as though their dollar or their time is not worth it you will lose all your customers doing this. How about that? Nasty attitudes will...
Read moreThis is a high volume location, and the tempo was medium to busy, on a Sat morning just before noon. They do a good job of getting you seated quickly. The way that they facilitate such quick turn around times is by getting the food out quickly and turning that table over as soon as possible. A sound business model, indeed. Unfortunately, they rush the cooking step so much, that the quality suffers greatly.
I was with a party of two others. My two companions both ordered eggs over easy, which were so undercooked that the whites of the eggs were runny. Over easy eggs should be soft but cooked whites, and still liquid yolks. They were rushed off the grill. I had "two eggs scrambled, dry, with well done fries." On appearance, the eggs looked perfect, as they had a small amount of browning on the top. However, the underside was still runny wet. So, they were cooked well on the one side and just flipped over onto the plate, the other side never seeing the grill. Dry doesn't mean burned, but I can deal with it as long as they are dry, not wet and runny. But I got both downsides, the overcooked half, and the wet runny half.
The fries looked gorgeously cooked till brown, I was sure these would be good. However, they were still raw inside. That firm half crunch of an uncooked potato. This tells me the fryer temps were set way, way too high, and scorched the outside while not allowing enough time for the inside to cook. The coffee was fresh and hot, two thumbs up there, as well as the toast, that was fine. But 0 for 3 on the eggs, the easiest and quickest item on the menu to make in my experience, there is no need to rush them. It doesn't matter how smooth all the other steps in the experience are, if the food is lacking, that is what the customer is going to remember. Customers forgive wait times to a very large degree, and it can actually work in your favor, amping up anticipation... Bad food never does.
Sorry, Lake Grove Diner, you didn't do it for me. But here is an opportunity to correct what I hope is just an...
Read moreFor starters, I have no idea how this place has so many good reviews. In all honesty, I never leave bad reviews & I'm always excited to try new places and be able to share my wonderful experiences, but unfortunately I can not do so with Lake Grove Diner. Me & my family were looking for a diner we have never been to on the island & came across this location. I'm always one to read reviews & based on the amount of good feedback they had, we decided to try it. Well we were less than pleased to say the least. We started our order with appetizers(jalapeño poppers, calamari & mozzarella sticks). The poppers were bland(not even spicy like they are supposed to be), the mozzarella sticks were nothing to rave about & the calamari was the worst thing we could have ordered. It was so overcooked & burnt that you could not even taste it or enjoy it. For entress we had gotten cheeseburgers, a Reuben sandwich & a 3 egg cheese omlette w/ sausage and potatoes on the side. Needless to say, with the omelet they originally forgot the cheese on the eggs, didn't bring the sausage, didn't bring the potatoes and had bacon on the plate. We had to send it back to be fixed, which they did. The potatoes though, no seasoning at all, extremely bland. Then the Reuben was ok, hard to mess that up. And the burgers were OK as well, but I have had way better burgers elsewhere. I do have to say, our waitress was pretty good though & very nice. Needless to say, for their prices, the food should be way more up to par. Unfortunately me nor my family will be visiting here again since there are better tasting diners & restaurants around. Like i stated, I'm not a complainer & I always read reviews to help me choose places to visit, so this is why I am leaving this review for others. Lake Grove Diner, I hope you can improve your food quality,...
