Not a thrift store at all your not going to find hidden treasures or one of kind antiques or rare items, or anything really interesting with history or a story to tell. It seems to be a store named āGarage Sale Storeā which is misleading because itās anything but a garage sale not even close, this you gather while pulling into the parking lot. As you enter you start to see that itās just like a Marshallās or a TJ Maxx, or better yet Ocean State Job Lot or Ollieās bargain shop... everything is brand new or open box or what seems to be returned to whatever store then donated? to the garage sale store? I suppose... when I went the first time we were given prices off the top of whoever was volunteering? If thatās what they were doing or perhaps they were working canāt say for sure. They would give us some pretty good prices or we could talk to them down a couple dollars or so. The next time we went in want the case... now they were looking up the MSRP of eveything now and even used items and charging half of what the original price was key words āwasā in whatever condition it was in or what the packing came in. They closed the downtown one that provided especially in that economically challenged area where there is a criminal court and other municipalities that are there too āhelpā or enrich or provide services to those with socioeconomic difficulties resources for a better standard of living: needless to say itās gone with yet another rarity taken away from the what seems to be a cursed business entire city. Itās really a-shame... and their change of pricing was a little questionable and frankly disturbing ... would I go again.. probably not why? Just doesnāt seem right.. and itās owned by a church and the proceeds go to ... well that was unknown as well... so if your beyond the philanthropic ideology of what itās supposed to be present then go save yourself that 59 percent off Walmart item you could of easily just got at Walmart in the clearance aisles. If you are about the philanthropic shop not your cup of tea probably unless you do your research and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI got there at 12:50 pm a total of 4 employees were there. By 12:55 pm (5 min later) I was told I had 5 min to continue to look around they are closing for lunch and everyone had to leave. I saw they locked the door and as people came to the door they actually ignored them. I asked one of the guys working for a price on a microwaveable bowl you cook Mac & Cheese in he said $5 it said $3 on the box (a customer let me know the number in black marker was the price) I asked another guy the price for a 22 inch monitor from Walmart he got his phone went to Walmart.com (it was Walmart brand ONN) showed me his phone and said "that's it" $85.00 the Clarence sticker from Walmart said $44. Im not sure who owns the place but the lady at the register or 3 guys bringing boxes in have no clue what's going on and clearly make it up as they go. And that is a direct quote from one of the 4 i just mentioned. By 1:02 pm we had been asked to leave and the doors were locked and there was a guy walking to the door as we pulled out of the lot. Must be nice to be able to turn all that money...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have made several purchases there. I felt they were over zealous on their pricing. But it's for the church, right? Well, I still expect that the items I do buy to be in good working order, especially at their price point. That has not always been the case. I.e., a clock that didn't work, for instance. But the worst item I bought was a king-sized comforter. The item was packaged (and looked) brand new. However, when I got it home and opened it, there were "red stains" all on the under side of the comforter. I was able to return it but I felt like I was being looked at with a suspicious eye. Soon after that, I saw the new sign: NO RETURNS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Also I was told that they have to purchase the items from Walmart. So, in order to make a profit, they have to price accordingly. š¤ Hmm , I might check it out one more time because I'm curious if anything has changed since my experience there, which was over a...
