Good, not excellent.

Pros: A lot of variety at the Fuller Road location, the price is fairly reasonable for higher quality donuts, the Apple cider donut 'belly' base makes these standout vs other cake donut shops, different coffee drinks are offered too, the interior is clean, and parking is good.

Cons: None of the 8 different kinds of donuts we tried were particularly warm(I understand it's hard to decorate warm donuts without the toppings melting) but keeping them slightly above room temperature can really add to the freshness quality. Some of the donuts, while not stale, tasted as though they'd been sitting out for a couple days. The coffee drinks weren't anything to write home about- they seemed sweet(which I like) but not particularly flavorful.

Overall, I liked Cider Belly, although I don't think they lived up to the hype and expectations I had. I think they're good value for well crafted treats, but not all of their options were home runs. The Cookies N Cream was fairly disappointing, but the seasonal Peach Cobbler was unique and done very well. The staff was very friendly and patient.

If I were to give a recommendation, I think I'd bump this up to 5 stars if Cider Belly were able to offer some donuts just a bit more warm and/or fresh. Because it's a bakery, I understand you're trying to estimate and bake an amount that you predict will be sold within a certain time frame, but it could be fortuitous to actually bake fewer donuts but more often to keep that fresh quality. You'll certainly risk selling out, but that sense of scarcity can also lead to greater demand. If you're unable to do that, then I might just recommend storing the donuts a bit differently or potentially keeping them a bit warmer...

Hit up Cider Belly for some donuts while heading out of Albany after spending a weekend there for a soccer tournament. Immediately upon walking in we were greeted by pleasant staff who offered to answer any questions and immediately took our order.

We decided to grab six donuts to split up in the car on the drive home and sure are glad we did. (Side Note: Plastic knives would be a good addition to Cider Belly as they did not have any) The best donuts in the lot were the apple cider donut, the maple frosted and the Maine blueberry but there wasn't a bad one in the lot. Donuts range a bit in prices depending upon the size and sophistication of the donut but anticipate paying around $3 or so for each donut.

There's a coffee menu board available, as well, and a seasonal latte did the trick for the car ride home. Cider Belly was a great stop while in Albany and I certainly would recommend...

My husband and I were visiting town, and decided to stop here for donuts and coffee. When I got there, I asked for a menu and I was told there is no menu available. The guy was not being helpful at all.....I only wanted two donuts, but was forced to buy 6. On top of that I wasn't allowed to get a donut of my choice. At the end I was stuck with 6 sugary chocolate donuts I didn't want....to top it off I have a severe bee allergy, and can go into shock if I get bit, there were at least 10-15 bees hovering around the shop. If you have a bee allergy like I do, please stay away from this area. They have their dumpster situated right in the front which attracts the bees, why not just move it to the back and do something about it. I have never had such a terrible experience with service as I did today. I informed the guy about this when trying to order, and he was not being...

I ordered six donuts and a hot chocolate during my visit. Unfortunately, the hot chocolate was cold, which was really disappointing. The Ol' Albany donut, I'd described as having Oreo cookie frosting on a cake donut, was overwhelmingly sweet—just too much sugar for my taste. The donuts were placed in a paper bag instead of a box, which seemed odd for a bakery. There was a line when I arrived, but it moved quickly. However, the space inside is very small, with just two small two-seater tables. It doesn’t feel comfortable to eat there while people are navigating through the line. The reason I wouldn’t return is because the donuts are priced between $2.50 and $5.00 each, and while I’m all for supporting small businesses, I do expect a certain level of packaging and presentation for that price. And I like my hot chocolate to actually be hot.

I'm gradually getting used to the concept of donut houses that have a base donut that gets customized via the toppings/icings that are on the donut. The service was great here, really friendly, knowledgeable people who were happy to answer questions, and get us what we wanted given that the selection possibilities were so huge. I got one of the basic Original Cin donuts along with one of the apple variations, and they were both quite tasty, tender in texture, and the Original Cin was definitely not too sweet. The iced one was really sweet, but did taste somewhat of apple. Plenty of cinnamon in the Original Cin and all the rich flavor of a good cider donut. Highly recommend that one. The coffee was actually quite good as well, not kept on heat forever, and easy to just add cream without any sugar, and it went beautifully with the donuts.
