I inquired in March about the proper timeline for renting a tuxedo for my 5-year-old son, who was to be the ringbearer in a family wedding. I was told by the owner, Jon, to bring him in a few weeks before the event for a fitting — which I did. At that time, Jon confidently assured me everything would be “perfect.” He made it seem like he was the only person in the city capable of making this tux look good.
When I called back for the second fitting, I was told to just pick up the tuxedo. That was the beginning of the disaster. I got it home to discover the pants wouldn’t even close, and the shirt sleeves were FOUR inches too short on each arm. I called immediately, and they told me to bring him back in — which I did, trusting they’d fix it.
Instead, they sent my 5-year-old home looking like he raided a clown’s closet. The replacement tuxedo had a shirt down to his knees, pants comically baggy, and a jacket hanging off his shoulders like he was playing dress-up. The sleeves were now so long, they rolled them up and pinned them with cufflinks.
This tuxedo is an embarrassment, and the service is worse. I paid $250 to rent this joke of a tuxedo, and when I called to express how unacceptable the situation was, Jon refused to do anything about it. No refund. No exchange. No apology. Just arrogance.
I found a perfectly fitting tuxedo at Macy’s for half the price.
Save your money, your time, and your sanity. This place is a scam dressed up in false promises and ill-fitting jackets. I wouldn’t trust them to dress a scarecrow. Run the...

Unfortunately, he's got a habit of focusing too much on a client's weight. Now, my groomsmen had a whole range of body types, and each one of them reported that their weight was constantly being brought up during their initial measurements. "A pound or two in either direction could change the whole fit" was the most recurrent comment, but one of them had even been questioned about how could he have gained so much, and he might ruin all of the photos because of his size. Sadly, we were too close to the wedding to be able to change anything, otherwise I'd probably have just canceled everything and gone to Men's Warehouse.
When we picked up our tuxedos, nothing was the size he'd measured, and it's really a shame because we had originally praised him for how thorough he was with his measurements. Everything was either too big or too small (one of my groomsmen was even given shoes three sizes too big without any kind of explanation), and although he'd included suspenders for half my groomsmen, and he'd cuffed or hemmed a jacket or a pair of pants, each of us had to pin some things into place in order to make it all fit right or because these alterations didn't last.
All said, we were lucky enough that none of us looked too ill-fitted when it came to photos, but I think I'll stick with the larger stores...
Read moreJon and his sister Mindy have been dressing me and my family for special events for the last twenty years. We rented from Marty’s when I was a ring bearer in the early 2000’s, and then for both my and my brother’s junior proms, senior fashion shows, and senior proms. And it was never a question that I would also be going to Marty’s for my wedding tuxes, no matter where our wedding would be. We got married in OBX in late April, and did a weeklong-Indian-American fusion wedding. Jon worked with me and my wedding party to ensure we had exactly what we wanted and went out of his way to make certain we had it for the full week without exceeding our budget. He shipped different color tuxes to his store for my groomsmen to try on and never made us feel bad for going in a different direction. And when it came time to pick-up the tuxes before traveling down to OBX for the big week, he made himself available after hours, since many of my groomsmen were not local to Cortlandt. Thank you to Marty’s for all of their help in making our fusion wedding a reality. We all felt like a million dollars on the special day. We cannot wait for you to be dressing us for many special...
