UPDATE 11/14/24 Why respond to my review asking me to do the extra work of duplicating / re-submitting my feedback through your website (which I did!) so you can “get in touch”… but then not actually ever get in touch?
Starting the search for a different gym with management that isn’t disrespectful and incompetent. You took me from disappointed in 24 Hour Fitness to actively resentful. Will be posting as many places as I can telling people to avoid this place like the plague. Thanks for nothing.
ORIGINAL REVIEW, SEPT 2024 I’m in this gym several times per week, usually late at night. Some criticisms below will be frank but I offer low- and no-cost suggestions to make this place way better - and far more successful as a business that attracts and retains customers.
1 MAINTENANCE
How has a giant hole in the floor / tripping hazard existed for many months by the preacher curl station without being fixed? Why are high-traffic machines broken for extended periods? Is there ANY budget for maintenance?
Why do I see employees lounging around on their phones during off-hours instead of ever putting weights back after inconsiderate members abandon them across the gym from where they belong? I sometimes see a guy come in just before the morning rush to do this but for overnight workouts the equipment is scattered absolutely everywhere. It’s a total pain. Your graveyard shifters are always very courteous but their manager(s) should instruct them to be more active overnight.
Why do my knees get caked with grime whenever I do any kneeling exercises at the cable machines? Would it really cost that much to replace mats and/or vacuum/mop more often?
Why are the trash cans so often overflowing? Employees can take some time away from watching YouTube at the front desk to make this place slightly less of a pig sty.
The broader idea / bottom line: this gym could be so much better by simply having your existing staff do less sitting around. This wouldn’t cost 24HF any extra $$$ and would go a LONG way toward attracting/retaining members.

2 MEMBER ETIQUETTE
Countless members here, esp young men, have zero understanding of basic gym etiquette. They really degrade the experience for the rest of us. These people are utterly unselfaware and need to be educated on things like:
-Weights go back where they came from after you’re done with them.
-Doing a superset? Great! Don’t hog the 10s, 15s, and 20s by your bench for 45 minutes; grab weights from the rack when you’re ready to use them… then use them… then put them back. If you’re resting a lot between sets and the gym is busy, don’t hog weights at your feet.
-Don’t park yourself on a bench or machine for 20 minutes browsing your phone.
During onboarding, you should explain these things to people. Too many of them have zero clue.
I’d even go so far as to review security footage to identify members who, for instance, bring commonly used weights to the class/studio room and don’t put them back. Politely reprimand them. Repeat offenders should have their memberships terminated.
In addition to better onboarding and occasional punitive action, put up more conspicuous signage around the gym about not hogging / moving equipment.
Train employees to look for, e.g., the teenager parked interminably on the quad extension machine, watching a movie on his phone. Verbally explain to him why he shouldn’t do this. Maybe even have a 1-sheeter covering gym etiquette employees can politely hand to them.

3 INTRUSIVE MUSIC
There is a promotional recording with an obnoxiously corny guitar riff that plays every few minutes, like clockwork. It’s incredibly grating - what needless noise pollution! I can’t be the only member who loathes this. Is it mandated by corporate? If so, executives really ought to use their own facilities more often.

To wrap up: The benefits / ROI of heeding my suggestions would be massive for 24HF members and the company itself, and make this location’s managers look great to their higher-ups. Thanks for reading.

   Read moreDear Management Team,
I am writing to express my frustration and disappointment with the current condition of the gym facilities. The sauna has once again been closed, reportedly for an issue that could easily be repaired in less than an hour. If the sauna must remain closed, I would at least expect the staff to take that opportunity to give it a proper cleaning.
Additionally, the gym was closed for an entire month, yet there are no noticeable improvements. The steam room is in unacceptable condition — it is dirty, has visible mold, and clearly lacks regular maintenance. At least two of the showers are not functioning, and several StairMasters (at least three) have been out of order for weeks.
This level of neglect is extremely frustrating and reflects very poorly on the management team. Members pay for access to clean, functional, and safe facilities, and it is disappointing to see how little care has been given to maintaining them.
I hope these issues are addressed promptly and that management begins prioritizing proper maintenance and accountability.
Sincerely, Susana
Hello 24 Hour Fitness Corporate Team,
I’m writing to file a formal complaint regarding repeated closures of the pool and sauna at the Scarsdale, NY club location. On Friday, September 26, 2025, the pool was closed due to the absence of a lifeguard. At the same time, there were at least five employees at the front desk, yet none were reassigned to sit in the pool area so members could use the facilities—despite reports that some staff hold lifeguard certifications. If they do not, such certification should be a requirement given how critical this role is. Members should not lose access to amenities while five staff members are idle at reception.
On Saturday, September 27, 2025, no replacement lifeguard was arranged and the pool and sauna remained closed all day. This reflects poor planning and disregard for members who pay for advertised amenities.
This is especially frustrating because the gym was closed for over a month for “renovations” that resulted in minimal noticeable improvements. Closing key areas again due to staffing choices is unacceptable.
I request:
A written explanation of what happened on Sept 26–27 and why no coverage plan was executed. Corrective action to ensure reliable staffing (cross-training/requiring lifeguard certification where...
Read moreAs a member of this location for the past 4 months i need to say a lot of these reviews are not true. The Scarsdale location is always incredible. There is always friendly staff to great me at the door, the machines are well laid out and Leo makes sure to take extra care in repairing any machines having an issue in a reasonable amount of time. Some times even faster then you can believe. The biggest thank you for repairing the stair masters today, your efficiency in this extremely difficult and intricate fix filled my heart with all the energy to go extra hard today and have the most phenomenal workout. The machines and overall gym are always clean especially in comparison to many other gyms I’ve been in. Nicole is always extremely attentive and helpful with any needs or questions i have and her assist in fixing the stair master today was top tier. Honestly the entire staff is extremely helpful, always knowledgeable and willing to take the time to make my workouts the best they can be. The gym has amazing amenities that are always well maintained and Chase is always at the pool area keeping a close eye on everyone’s safety. I love how he checks on us in the steam room and sauna regularly to make sure nobody accidentally stayed a little longer then they could handle and I’d so he’s ready to assist them to recovery faster then any lifeguard i know. If you’re looking for a great gym with truly genuine staff and overall good vibes from the entire gym community boosting your progress and helping each other succeed and be their best them this is the place. This gym changed my life at one of my darkest points and welcomed me with the most encouraging and heartwarming ways. I appreciate everyone from he managers, trainers, desk staff, cleaning and maintenance… in no particular order as they are...
