I recently had the pleasure of dining at IL Sorrento Restaurant in Scarsdale, and it was an experience that truly exemplified culinary excellence. From the moment we stepped inside, the inviting atmosphere enveloped us. Still, we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and enjoy our meal outside on their charming mock patio. The outdoor seating area, adorned with lovely greenery, gentle lighting, and music, created a warm and inviting ambiance, perfect for enjoying a leisurely lunch.
The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the homemade black linguine with seafood. The pasta was crafted in-house, boasting a striking deep black color that hinted at its unique flavor. Cooked to al dente perfection, each strand provided a delightful texture. The dish was generously adorned with a medley of fresh seafood, including succulent shrimp, tender calamari, and crabmeat, all harmoniously intertwined with a rich, aromatic sauce that elevated every bite. It was satisfying to see that my friend, who had ordered the same dish, devoured the entire portion himself, which could easily have served two.
To complement our meal, we indulged in two frothy cappuccinos. These were expertly crafted, with velvety microfoam artfully poured atop rich, robust espresso. Sipping on them while enjoying the breeze added to the delightful experience, creating a perfect balance of intense coffee flavor and creamy sweetness.
For dessert, we couldn't resist trying their homemade tiramisu. This classic Italian treat was truly a revelation, featuring layers of delicate espresso-soaked ladyfingers interspersed with a rich, airy mascarpone cream. Topped with a dusting of cocoa powder, it was the perfect ending to our meal--sweet but not overly so, and incredibly light.
Ill Sorrento is a gem in Westchester County's competitive Italian dining scene. With its inviting outdoor setting, authentic culinary offerings, and attentive service, it promises a dining experience that is both memorable and satisfying. If you're seeking a place that brings the essence of Italy to your table, I highly recommend paying a visit to Ill Sorrento; you won't be...
Read moreTo give some context before diving into my review, my father was a chef for over 20 years, and I grew up immersed in the world of fine dining and culinary experiences. He took me everywhere—coffee shops, restaurants, farmers’ markets—you name it. Because of that upbringing, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for quality food and a habit of exploring countless restaurants.
While there are many great dining spots, whether in the city or up here in Westchester, Il Sorrento stands out as one of the absolute best I’ve ever been to. From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional.
We began with olives and cheese as appetizers, and they were of good quality—simple yet exquisite. The calamari was incredible, perfectly cooked and paired with a special sauce that elevated the dish to another level. For my entrée, I had the beef short rib ragu, and it was absolutely sublime—rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. My father, a man who holds food to the highest standard, opted for the chicken parm. He always orders the simplest, most popular dish to test a restaurant’s true quality. His verdict? Absolute perfection. (PERFECTION)
We ended the night with a macchiato, a fitting conclusion to what was truly a splendid evening. Beyond the food, the service was impeccable. The staff were polite, attentive, and accommodating, which added to the overall experience.
I was so impressed with Il Sorrento that I felt compelled to write this essay, simply to share how incredible our night was. It’s clear that this restaurant is destined to become one of Westchester’s top dining destinations. While there may be small areas to refine, the level of care and passion that goes into the food and service...
Read moreI tried out this restaurant with my wife and son this evening, having heard it recently opened. The service was excellent, with servers attentive to every need - ensuring drinks and food were to our liking. Our server, Elvis, made sure we were satisfied every step along the way. In fact, the service was better than I have experienced at most restaurants in the area of late. The modernish and sleek ambience complimented the level of service.
The food itself also was very good, and even competes, in my opinion, with many upscale Italian restaurants in Manhattan we used to frequent. I had the pappardelle ragu dish, and the pasta was cooked al dente, as it should be, and the meat was tender and not overdone. The sauce was certainly rich, and the portion was generous, so it was difficult to finish. My wife had the shrimp and lobster risotto, and had positive things to say about it. For dessert, we had a chocolate/gelato cake (I can't recall the precise name), and tiramisu, and both seemed authentic and not simply frozen/re-heated desserts you often experience at many places.
Lastly, the drinks were fine. My Rye Manhattan was not overly sweet nor dry, and my wife enjoyed the wine she had.
Overall, great service and food, and the prices were fair for the area. Will certainly...
