Early in the sales process, our Tarrytown Honda Salesperson Zulay Demora asked that I write a Google review. If I could go lower than 1 star I would and to think all the issues happened within 60 days of owning the vehicle and within our warranty period. We purchased a used Acura RDX - nice vehicle, awful dealer. Incorrect sales tax on the invoice. Then no credit given for $1000 deposit on the bill of sale that I had to point out and have revised. Terrible communication and order processing including the requirement of check payment vs. ability to handle bank wires/transfer. Missed transmission problems that left my wife stranded. I had to convince Scarrytown Honda, I mean Tarrytown Honda that I ought not drive the car 38 miles to them and instead have it picked up, due to a transmission problem they missed and Acura required. I found it on the internet by simply searching. Box checked they inspected the key fob battery. Key fob batter died within 10 days. They drove the vehicle over the Cuomo bridge (opposite direction of the dealership) triggering an overdue toll mailed to my house that I had to get reimbursed. Missed blower motor noise which they replaced but originally proposed test driving the car to locate the noise. I had to tell them a blower motor noise from inside the vehicle does not need a test drive nor should the General Manager need to take the vehicle home to test drive it longer distances, as they suggested. A local Acura Dealer found the Acura required software upgrade but even though I was in our 60 day used car warranty, Tarrytown Honda would not reimburse us $400 I paid to the Acura dealer. You'd think as a brand of Honda, the Honda dealer would think to check their sister brand Acura for any service bulletins and requirements. Tarrytown Honda are CLASSIC deceptive, shaddy used car sales people. They had out $20,000 and that was what mattered. It's too bad - we own or have owned 6 Honda vehicles and there are 28 in my extended family. NEVER use Tarrrytown Honda. I'm looking forward to filing complaints and partnering with the New York State Department of State, the New York State Department of Public Service, the New York State Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau and Chamber of Commerce.
**Update, Feb17, 2025. Tarrytown DID end up reimbursing us for the $400 diagnostic and service matters and as a result, I do not plan to notify any of the organizations listed. Thank you for the...
Read moreThe sales rep was not aggressive and pushy. He was pleasant and thoughtful. This was a different experience this time around. I was surprised that the sales rep contacted the insurance company before showing me the breakdown of the financing. I am used to seeing an estimate of monthly cost on paper before calling registration and insurance. The process was fast however. The financial person was not transparent and automatically added the comprehensive cost to the deal without me agreeing. Everything was on his computer screen. This dealer should provide hardcopy or a tablet for the buyers to read. I felt rushed in making a decision. When I told the financial sales person that I felt rush he said he had other customers waiting. He also said if you can't afford to add another $40 to you monthly maybe you should purchase the car because you couldn't afford it. He was not too happy that I settled with basic coverage. Additionally, he suggested the bimonthly payment program. When I asked him what was the cathlch he said there was none when I insisted on a catch he said "well the is a $3+ convince fee". When I proceeded to look at the document he gave me to sign up I noticed a $900+ fee . When I alerted him on this and asked why he was not transparent he said "I never noticed that fee before. We just started that program a few months ago. He was visiblely put off with my questions. I am guess he has never met a customer who wanted to know about the hidden cost. Let's just say I liked my interaction with the sales rep but I am definitely turned off from buying my next car from this dealer because of the lack of transparency. I bought my first car here in 2013 and my experience was less pleasant this...
Read moreI had a seamless, frustration-free experience purchasing a certified pre-owned Honda HR-V—it was virtually brand new.
My sales consultant, Elvis, was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. He made the process smooth, which I truly appreciated because I loathe car buying.
My experience started at my local Honda dealer, but it was horrible. Despite telling them I was short on time, they assigned me a salesperson who was only four days on the job and had no training (not his fault, but still frustrating). They didn’t respect my time constraints and then proceeded to try to give me a “deal” if I purchased in the spot.
I decided to look elsewhere and found a car 30 minutes away. I made contact, scheduled an appointment, and drove there, only to find out the car was still in inspection—something they had tried to call and inform me about (I missed the call, so that was on me).
Despite the delay, Elvis went above and beyond by offering to drive the car to my house once the inspection was completed.
Once we talked price and made the deal, the post purchase process was smooth. Elvis was highly responsive to my multiple texts and took responsibility of working with my insurance agent to get everything set up.
Compared to my first experience, this dealership was a night-and-day difference. I highly recommend Elvis if you’re looking for a hassle-free car-buying experience - and...
