Really only one word to describe this place: "disappointing". Nikkos used to be one of my favorites. I went on my first date with my fiancé here and we both absolutely loved it. We bonded over the food and ended up returning multiple times and had very pleasant meals. Mind you this was back in 2018-2019. I just went in to eat today and was left in awe… negatively. First of all, the restaurant was supposed to open at 12:00pm, we arrive at 12:40pm and they are still getting ready to open up, mopping the floors, cleaning, etc. Not surprisingly we were able to get a table fast because practically nobody was in there, felt like a ghost town. You would think that lunch time on a nice beautiful Saturday would make any sushi/hibachi spot a popular hit. Well it was the opposite. After looking over the menu, with not many options, me and my fiancé decided to get the Golden Spider Roll, Hawaiian Roll, Sweet potato roll, Vegetable Gyoza, and miso soup. Mind you, it is only us 2 sitting to eat. Multiple people came in after us, ordered, and got their food way before us. I am unsure of the reason but we were probably waiting at least 30 minutes before our food arrived. If the vibe and feeling weren't bad enough.. when our food was finally brought out, I was greatly disappointed. Not only was I shocked with the size of these gigantic sushi rolls, but they did not even look appealing, as it was wrapped in what one can only describe as romain lettuce. When I took my first bite (which I was forced to bite only half of the roll, compared to the usual pleasant one bite I take… due to the roll being so unnecessarily large.) I was greeted with one of the most bland, unusual mix of temperature and texture, and overall bad tasting piece of sushi I have had in the past couple of years. I have had pre-made refrigerator sushi from stop and shop that taste better than the Golden Spider Roll. The hawaiin roll was "okay" at best, due to it falling all apart, the plate looked sloppy by the end of it. The sweet potato roll was average at best as well, not too bad. and the Gyoza was mediocre. To top it all off, I had ONE piece of sushi, and gave my lovely lady ONE piece to try. we both did not like it. When I called the waiter to ask if i can replace the roll because I really did not like it, they said no because I had already had two pieces out of the 8. So I was not able to swap it and had to pay full price for a meal that I despised. I will NEVER be...
Read moreThe service was horrible from beginning to end. Our “server” took our order for our drinks, and he must of forgot because he kept walking by us to either take other peoples orders or bring food to other tables. A couple who walked in after us, was able to order and got their food right away. I hate to use the race card but we and another black couple were the only people sitting there waiting to waited on. They were not too happy as well with the service. We had to literally stop another waiter in her tracks to ask about our drinks. When she brought the drink over which was 15 minutes after we inquired, it was full of ice and was very weak. Almost as if they ran out of the ingredients and tried to mask it with something else. After sitting there for 20 minutes and watching waiters/waitresses walk by us and attend to other tables, we had to stop our waiter and ask can we order. I’ve never been to any restaurant, and have to ask if we can order food. We ordered our food, and he brought over the wrong salad. We asked for avocado salad, and not one piece of avocado was in the salad. He took the salad off the table, then brought back over the same salad with avocado just thrown on top. After our sushi was made. We observed it just sitting on top of the counter exposed for about 10 minutes, waiting for our server to bring it to us. We actually had to stop him as he walked by and asked him if that was our sushi. He said “no”. We watched him walk over there and grab our sushi right from the same spot we observed it at, just sitting there absorbing all the germs as people walk on by. I was over it that point. I’m not sure what happened but we never had that bad of experience going there. We have never did hibachi there, we always sit on the other side. Maybe we should go over to the hibachi side and see if they give...
Read moreWorst Hibachi experience I’ve ever had. We had 8:15 reservations and arrived early, we weren’t seated until 9:00pm and only after another family and I complained when they were getting ready to sit a family who’s reservation was 30 min AFTER ours. And the host didn’t apologize or even seem to care, she said “oh you want to be seated first?” Like what kind of f*$king kind of question is that?!
Once we were finally seated, it took another 30 min to actually get a chef. Then to make it better our chef was terrible. He dropped the spatula doing his trick and it’s like he just gave up on life after. (And our table tried cheering him on and being supportive but he was done.)He didn’t do any of the tricks they usually do, and he burned the eggs and rice. The chicken was dry and the vegetable (which he served at the very end) was oversaturated in soy sauce.
One of the guests were there for a birthday, not only did they not sing her happy birthday, but when the chef was done cooking they brought our bills without even asking if we wanted dessert.
100% worst hibachi dining experience I’ve ever had and I’ve been to many hibachi restaurants in my lifetime. The only highlight of this evening was our table bonding over how terrible the...
