I walked into the office the morning of 06/30/2025 and began speaking with Trisha. She did not greet me upon arrival and already seemed irritated IMMEDIATELY.
I explained to Trisha that I called a few days prior to coming into the store and previously asked if I can come pick up my prescription. The woman on the phone told me I had to come in person and retrieve it since it was 1 month expired.
Once I politely asked Trisha for the copy she told me “NO” and said she wouldn’t print it out for me since it was expired. I explained to her that I had called two days before and got confirmation from her coworker that I could come pick it up as long as I came in person and that the prescription could not be faxed over to any other doctors office. Once I told Trisha that I already had this conversation with her coworker , she exhaled with an attitude, rolled her eyes and said “ well it’s still gonna say that its expired “ and I told her once again “that is fine, I just need it to be printed out” .
She reluctantly printed the copy. It was at this point that I realized the location/ office was empty and only had one other customer so I asked her if she could look in my account and let me know how much an eye exam would be with my insurance “Eye Med” . I figured I could go ahead and get an exam since the office seemed to be a bit slow at that time.
Trisha then informed me that I had two insurances on my account and that she could not tell me how much my eye exam would be. It was at this moment that I let her know that I had been coming to America’s best for almost 8 years and I have always had the receptionist Tell me how much my eye exam would be. I knew TRISHA was lying and did not want to do her job. This is a doctors office, there is NO WAY YOU CANNOT TELL ME HOW MUCH MY CO-PAY IS???!
At this point, I was very confused because it seems like she did not want to explain any of my benefits to me nor did she want to make an appointment for me. My account was already pulled up and she still refused to tell me how much the appointment would cost to see the doctor and get my exam.
Trisha doubled down and let me know that she absolutely cannot tell me how much my eye exam would be and that I need to leave and call my insurance and ask them MYSELF because these are questions they can answer and she was unable to answer them. I stepped right outside the office and called the other America’s best and within one minute of being on the phone I was able to get a receptionist on the line and with just my phone number she was able to tell me exactly how much my co-pay , co-insurance and allowance was for the entire year.
This is when I knew Trisha was lying and did not want to do her job. I have always gotten my information this way but Trisha was adamant about being useless and having an attitude.
I returned back into the store with the other receptionist on speakerphone and allowed Trisha to hear the other receptionist give me the information that I was asking from her. I thanked the other receptionist and hung up the phone with her.
At this point I informed Trisha that she was not doing her job properly and was not assisting the customer in the way that was necessary. Trisha became very aggressive and started to raise her voice and told me that she would not help me and that She was going to get somebody else to assist me.
At this point, I told her I no longer wanted her assistance nor did I want assistance from anyone else in the store and told her she needed to adjust her attitude if she was going to work in customer service. I am extremely disappointed I have been a customer with this company for over eight years and have never experienced this type of hostility, aggression, and unprofessionalism. I will be writing this on every platform and to corporate, she has had several complaints and has been listed on many platforms as a troublesome employee. She is very bad for business and does not need a job that is customer facing, this is not the last that you will hear from me. TRISHA is not good...
Read moreOMG! what an awful experience I had with this establishment today. The reception (I won't mention her name even though she should be put on blast) is rude, condescending, and has no customer service skills whatsoever. Additionally, the other employees standing around in the store (1726 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont NY, 11003) are not welcoming or friendly at all, neither were they helpful.
So what happened? ...I made an online appointment directly on their website 2weeks in advance and received a confirmation email. So on the day of my appointment (@10:45am) I get there early, as it is my custom to do so, and I was told that I didn't have an appointment, and that any appointments made 2weeks ago were cancelled and had to be rescheduled -- which meant that a personal phone call from the receptionist would have been made to me in order to reschedule it. Then I was told that the appointments for today were ALL booked and my name is not on the LIST!....plus the doctor wasn't even there ((MIA ?)). Well I proceeded to explain that I never received a cancellation notice....not by email or phone!!! I even showed them my confirmation email on my iphone which stated... ((("Thank you for scheduling an eye exam.... Your eye exam is confirmed! We look forward to seeing you.)))
They refused to accommodate me in any way and didn't even offer to setup another appointment while I was already standing there or even apologize for any system error that could have caused the mishap on there side.... so I kindly walked off!..... only to get home later on this evening and got a voice message (@5:07PM) asking me to return the call so they can reschedule me for an appointment (((because my original appointment information was found in their system in another location that didn't get printed out on their initial LIST for the day.)))
I did not like the way this whole situation transpired, nor how they spoke ignorant towards me. I went there to give them a chance, to become a new patient, but they blew it!...First impressions are lasting impressions!! I took my business elsewhere and had a much better experience, not to mention I was a "Walk-in" (didn't even need an appointment) to see the doctor on the same day.
As far as America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses is concerned, I will NEVER return or recommend them. Trust me, you don’t want...
Read moreMy appointment was for 4:20PM, I hit traffic and called to let the clerk know I would be roughly 5 minutes late, but that I filled out all of my paperwork online ahead of time. She said that would be fine. I walked into the store at 4:30, and the initial desk clerk clicked around on the computer before she brought another employee over to address me — by the time the second employee (the original woman I spoke to on the phone) walked over, it was 4:32. She said they would not allow me to continue with my appointment because I was past their grace period of 10 minutes. I mentioned I had called and said roughly five minutes, but walked in no later than ten. The woman, who was the clerk who answered the phone, showed me the clock and said that since it was now 4:32, they would not accommodate me. As she explained this, she spoke down to me in an unfriendly, superior manner as if I did not understand that we were now speaking twelve minutes after the scheduled appt time. I emphasized that it took them a moment just to get her to come over to speak to me. She would not budge. This interaction was disgusting and this employee did not exhibit a morsel of friendly customer service or compassion. As a previous patron at this store, I will now take my business elsewhere as a result of this unaccommodating employee who dragged her feet to speak to me but decided that, upon reaching me, two minutes had passed after the grace period and I would not be seen. That is to also mention that she seldom made eye contact with me until she felt the need to explain that 12 minutes was not the same as 10 minutes, as if I needed it spelled out — when the matter that truly needed to be spelled out was the lacking customer service which apparently allows not even minor flexibility. It was not worth arguing about, since I decided on the spot that I did not want to be serviced by an employee so disagreeable and...
