I purchased 5 appliances from Jays and they were wonderful...initially. I paid for everything 4 months prior to delivery. I purchased an extended warrants which I assumed was from Frigidaire. The oven is now broken, I called Jays to find out that is now new owners there. I spoke with Madeline who was rude at best. They told me that my extended warranties are with a company called Consumer Priority Service with an address in Brooklyn NY. This is an apartment house not a business. They ask you 100 questions and ask you to upload and download things that I can't do, in an effort to get you off of the phone. Once we got past all of that a company who repairs the appliance gives you a date when they will come out. In my case it was 4 weeks out. Totally unreasonable for me to wait one month for a repair. I paid close to 1,000 for the extended warranty and this makes no sense to me. Not only would I NEVER buy anything else from Jays appliance and I would never purchase any Frigidaire product again as well. I would hope that the new owner from Jays would respond to this this review and call me as well so I can get this past me. In summation, this has been very time consuming and we still do not have have a working oven. It says "Professional" on the appliances which is their highest level but it should say unprofessional instead. If needed I would be happy to sit down with the owner to discuss. I was told by Frigidaire they they offer extended warranties as well. My question is why was this not offered to me. One can only guess that Jays does better financially by taking the extended warranty out with this third party repair company. Sorry to be so harsh on this review but I feel that it is warranted. I wonder why I didn't get any response from the owner of Jays, like they did to others who wrote good reviews. I guess they realize that they didn't treat me and probably many others in a reasonable manner...Well now, its two weeks after the initial review and we are no closer to having an oven that works. I have full intentions of taking this scenario to the BBB, news media as well as the news papers. Now its a matter of principal. since I have full documentation of every call with the date and time and who I spoke to, I feel that this matter would be best resolved in small claims court.
FYI. The company that Jays appliance (original ownership) steered me into was Consumers Priority Service who works out of an apartment house in Brooklyn NY. They are very disorganized. Upon checking their listing in the BBB they have had 333 complaints against them in the past two years. I am not confident that here are new owners but, the people that are running the store now are rude at best. I would not recommend them moving forward. Buyer beware. If you are going to take out an extended warranty, do your homework and take it out with a reputable company. sorry to say but Jays is officially off my list of places that I have recommended to various people in the past. Read moreI decided to support this local small appliance store vs the large appliance chains and they matched the price that I found on PC Richards (hence the 2 stars.) I purchased a refrigerator August 2024 and the door was dented. I'm not sure if it came dented or the delivery guys dented it coming through the front door, but since August I am waiting for my replacement door. I was told by the delivery guys I would get a call from the store about it with updates. I WAITED FOR THAT CALL THAT NEVER CAME. I had to call them and deal with the manager numerous times (wont mention her name here) and was told 8 weeks after they contacted whirlpool I should have my door. I waited and waited and called again to ask for an update and did so repeatedly until today when I demanded to speak with either the owner, as it's now JANUARY and I still have NO replacement door.
When something like this happens you would THINK the store would keep contacting you with updates as they want you as a repeat customer. In 5 months I received ONE call after demanding an update and all the other calls are me calling them.
After today's phone call and speaking with one of the people there, who mind you, got an attitude with me, I decided to write this review. TO THE EMPLOYEES OF JAY'S, THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT AND YOU NEED TO KEEP A CHECK ON YOUR ATTITUDE WITH THEM, ESPECIALLY IN SITUATIONS SUCH AS THIS WHEN THE CUSTOMER IS REALLY FRUSTRATED. WITHOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS YOU WOULD NOT HAVE JOBS AND THIS BUSINESS WOULD BE OUT OF BUSINESS.
I also wanted to mention that your sales people need to have more knowledge. When you ask questions about a product and they have to keep referring back to the computer to look things up and they still give you wrong information it's pretty sad. I was told quite a few things about the product I purchased and when it arrived it was all incorrect AND the doors are not aligned either.
I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN AND WILL LET ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY KNOW TO GO ELSEWHERE AS WELL. Finding a good price or one that matches another company is fine and all, but CUSTOMER SERVICE IS JUST AS IMPORTANT IF NOT MORE IMPORTANT. I WORK IN MARKETING AND BUSINESS DEVELOPEMENT FOR A VERY LARGE COMPANY AND WOULD NEVER EVER TREAT MY CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS, THERE ARE TOO MANY COMPETITORS OUT THERE THAT ARE HAPPY TO TAKE MY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER.
Update: I waited for a call with any updates since speaking with them 6 days ago and received NONE. I just called again today so frustrated and was told they have been doing their work on the back end to resolve things and get me my door and as of yesterday recieved notice from their Whirlpool req it's going to be another 2 weeks, yet no one had the thought to call me with this update knowing all I have already been through since last August!!! . WHY DO I HAVE TO DO ALL THE CALLING?? Why the attitude, knowing how frustrated I have been?!?! NEVER...
