United States Postal Service — Local services in Town of Hempstead

Never get my packages sent here when ordering so it must of been an error so I called my local post office and they let me know it was being held here and they haven't received it. I was tracking and it was supposed to be delivered and it was delayed for a few days with no update. I had to call and ask if it was possible for me to pickup. Only to be met by an unfavorable tone when the phone was answered and once the tracking number was told the caller then exaggeratedly said that "This is West Hempstead" I just quickly explained the situation and hung up not wanting to deal with attitude. Then magically the tracking status changed and my package was delivered meaning it was just sitting there not being updated if I hadn't have called. Please make sure to be open to listening to customers instead of quickly assuming they don't know what they are...

The ladies and gentlemen behind the counter are extremely friendly and courteous. They literally go above and beyond when it comes to customer service by a federal employee! Let me tell you a quick story. I was in the post office mailing a package when a lady came in frantic that she just dropped an envelope full of cash in the drop box on Hempstead Ave. The employees got the lady's story and called for a supervisor. I left the post office and was driving down the block when I saw the lady along with a supervisor from the office opening the drop box and giving her the envelope she dropped by mistake. Who does that??! When she came in, I expected the employees to just dismiss the lady and tell her better luck next time. Instead they went above and beyond to get this lady her money...

We've had several packages...PACKAGES...not make it to their destination when shipped from this location. Already felt salty about that but continued to use their services because they are walking distance from our house. Will gladly be driving to Hempstead or further if need be after being rudely questioned earlier this week whether the obvious paperback book I was shipping was really a book (!!). Already stunned by the ignorance, was also told I could only send hardcover books via media mail despite having done so for several years prior to moving to W Hempstead, including from this very location. Did not wish to engage, simply went to Hempstead office and had absolutely no problem or question, as should be. Will not be returning, and I do NOT recommend using the W...
