I made an order from my son to his grandmother for Valentine’s Day through 1-800 Flowers who utilized Westminster as their florist. The flowers were not delivered between the guaranteed time frame and after 8pm I called customer service. I was given no resolution or clarity as to why my order was never delivered as per the same day guarantee on Valentine’s Day. I was told that the flowers would be delivered by 12am ET on 2/14 into 2/15 and when it was not delivered on time I made the recipient aware of the surprise for Valentine’s Day and had them stay up to wait for the flowers. I also tried to call Westminster but no answer. I was told that if they were not delivered to call 1800 flowers customer service back. I waited until the following day giving until 1pm ET and still no flowers were delivered. When I called 1800 flowers customer service again they said they were reaching out to the florist and that the florist made the agent aware they would be delivered in 5-10 minutes. At 2pm the flowers were still not delivered so I contacted the florist and was told the flowers were again on the truck and would be 5-10 minutes away. When I asked why they were not delivered the previous day as per the guarantee and that I have tried to have the recipient wait almost another 12 hours from the previous night I was told I was wrong was told she knows I received half off of the flowers and that I needed to wait as they were still being delivered. When I asked for her name she refused and starting yelling at me over the phone and told me she was canceling my order. I called customer service right away and they made me aware that the florist cancelled the order and now was refusing to deliver the flowers. I asked to speak with someone about the delay, the customer service and the issue with the florist being extremely rude and they told me there was nothing more they could do other than give me a refund. No flowers were delivered and I now have to wait 5-7 days for my full refund back. What tried to be a nice present and surprise from my son to his grandmother for Valentine’s Day turned into a very...
Read moreI visited this nursery for the first time today after it was recommended to me by Google during my search for unusual-colored anthuriums. According to their website, they had the pink, purple, and orange varieties I was looking for - so I decided to check it out. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. The nursery is well-maintained and neatly organized. They carry a wide range of plants and everything a gardening enthusiast might need: tools, pots, seeds, wind chimes, potting soil, fertilizers, and more. The plant displays are arranged inside and outside, as well as at the back of the nursery, making the space visually inviting even from a distance. One feature I particularly appreciated was their floral gift section. They offer flower wrapping services and can add plush toys, balloons, and ribbons to turn your purchase into a beautifully packaged gift. This is a great option for anyone looking to pick up a thoughtful, ready-to-give present. That said, there were a few drawbacks. I noticed that some plants were overpriced, and a few were of lesser quality compared to similar ones I’ve seen elsewhere. Some plants lacked price tags, which made browsing a bit inconvenient. Also, the floor was quite wet during my visit, and two staff members were pushing water across the floor - almost in my direction - which wasn’t ideal. Parking was another issue. I had to drive a bit further to find a spot. Still, the staff was generally helpful. One associate named Nick stood out - he not only gave me a discount on one of the plants but also took the time to chat about anthuriums and even recommended another nursery that might carry the specific colors I was after. In conclusion, despite a few minor inconveniences, I had a positive experience and would recommend this nursery to fellow plant lovers and gardening enthusiasts. It’s worth a visit for their variety and...
Read moreI had a disappointing experience with Westminster Garden Nursery in Hempstead. I went in looking for shrubs to create a privacy fence between my yard and my neighbor’s, and they just so happened to be having a sale—30% off shrubs that were originally priced at $160 each. I decided to purchase 10 shrubs, which came to $112 each with the discount, not including tax and delivery. Keep in mind, I wasn’t able to choose the specific shrubs myself; they selected and delivered them for me. When the delivery arrived, I was charged an additional $200 to have the shrubs installed.
Less than three months after purchasing these Ilex shrubs, 5 out of the 10 are dead. My landscaper suggested reaching out to the nursery to see if they could offer any help. I spoke with the manager and was asked to send pictures of the dead shrubs (attached). After 24 hours without any response, I followed up only to be told by the receptionist/cashier that because they were purchased on sale, all warranties were voided. It’s concerning to think that I might have been given unhealthy shrubs because they were purchased on sale and wasn’t able to choose them myself.
I’m now out almost $800 and left with shrubs that are dead and need to be replaced and reinstalled. I just want to warn others: be cautious when purchasing plants on sale here, and make sure you can personally select the ones you want for your home. I wouldn’t recommend this nursery if you’re looking for healthy, long-lasting plants and good...
