First experience was a bit odd - walked in to a woman I learned to be the manager sitting on one of the front couches staring at her phone and when I told her I was there for an appointment she looked up and just pointed at the front desk. I also had to go back multiple times to be able to allow more than 3 people to help me dress shop despite the fact that the enitre store was empty when I went to dress shop all 3 times (so I could have more than 3 guest as per COVID rules).
Overall, my experience was okay, not a huge selection of dresses with sleeves. Just the same type of dress with the same type of sleeves but different designers.
I got my dress and my alterations done through them - I recommend not getting your alterations done with them if you can. I paid over $700 for a bustle that broke the day of my wedding, a small hem and for her to take in the dress slightly. Dissapointed because she told me I could wear a bra and did all my measurements and alterations with the bra on, only to have the dress not fit right at all (after only one appointment mind you!). My bridesmaids had to safety pin the dress to keep my bra from showing (which didn't really work). I felt so angry and disppointed after spending $1,900+ on my dress and almost another $1,000 in alterations for the dress to not fit right at all. I know the alterations are outsourced but they have you sign a contract to "cap" your alterations at ~$600 and that doesn't include the bustle. Like I said the seamstress did next to nothing to my dress and didn't make it fit well, which is essentially her job. For what I paid, I shouldn't have had to safety pin anything. I should have been able to put on the dress and have it fit like a glove. Overall, disppointed in the experience.
I've only had sneak peak photos sent from my photographer so I'm just hoping the rest don't show my bra.
TLDR; Don't use their onsite seamstress for...
Read moreHUGE WASTE OF TIME!!! Initially thought I had a great experience at Ivory & Main, nice atmosphere, friendly employees, and seemed to keep my preferences in mind when assisting me in picking dresses to try on. One of the first questions the stylist asked me was what my budget was and if I had been dress shopping before. I advised her of my budget and let her know I had been shopping before and found a dress I loved but was unfortunately over my budget which is why i was still looking. She informed me my budget would not be an issue and assured me there would be a number of dresses to try within my price range. I tried on a number of dresses and finally found one I loved even more than I even thought was possible. The whole time, asking the price and being told the manager was finding out because it was a custom dress. Long story short, I fell in love with the dress, continued having to ask the price & didn't get an answer until I waited at the front desk before walking out the door, only to find out the dress was over a thousand dollars over my budget, and even $300 over the price of the dress I initially told the stylist I loved but was out of my price range. In a last stitch effort to give my business to this establishment I called back some time after to see if the price would differ for a non-plus size dress (I normally wear a size 10) considering I was told it was a custom dress and therefore less material and embellishments would be needed but instead of finding the assistance I was looking for I was treated as though I was speaking a different language and mimicked in the background when checking with another employee for assistance since initially the person who answered could not assist in answering...
Read moreCurrine, Samantha, Gianna, Syd — everyone at Ivory and Main — are truly the best in bridal. The cherry on top? Their work with The Dream Dress Project — an incredible initiative that shows how deeply Currine and her team care about giving back to the bridal community.
As a plus-size woman, I cannot fully express what it meant to walk into a bridal salon and finally have real options in sample sizes that actually fit my body. Every single person I worked with was warm, patient, and genuinely made me feel celebrated. They were also honest and transparent about what to expect with each dress, timelines, budgets, and alterations — which made decision-making so much easier.
A very special shoutout to Samantha with alterations, whose talents go above and beyond. With her background in costume design, she brings unmatched expertise and knows exactly how to tailor a gown to the plus-size form in a way I’ve never experienced. She truly understood my vision and even designed the most stunning custom cape for my ceremony (can’t share it yet - but trust me, it’s incredible!).
As someone with two ceremonies (and a little indecisiveness), I ended up wearing a different dress from another salon for one of my events. Samantha was still kind and patient enough to help me — removing layers of crinoline the literal day before the wedding. Her calm, supportive presence made all the difference. And Currine went above and beyond by showing up on my wedding day to support her fellow Curvy Godmother, Cassidy Coordinates, as a bridal stylist (because corsets are no joke!)
I am so incredibly grateful for spaces like Ivory and Main - they are absolutely worth the visit and I cannot recommend them...
