We’ve given this place our business for decades. We always support the local businesses in Sayville but after today we will never go back. We had a gift certificate from a friend that I kept in a drawer and used when I wanted a gyro. I used it last week with no problem. There was just enough left for one more gyro and I went to get one to bring home. The large blond cashier was so rude telling me that it had expired and I had no idea there was even an expiration date. I said I had no problem using it 4 days ago. A young cashier at the counter even told her “he used it last week” but she said no, it’s the rule. She said, I’ll take it this one time because the boss isn’t here, but I’m not giving it back to you (There would’ve been $5 left on it. I was so furious! I told her Fine, you keep that $5 balance and enjoy it because you’ll never get our business again! I grabbed my gyro and left before I really told her what I thought. What a horrible way to run a business and treat customers! Restaurant gift certificates with expiration dates are atrocious. They should be ashamed of themselves. I’ll never go back there, and in truth, I can find much better gyros elsewhere, as well as much...
Read moreWe Sat down, it took what felt like an exceptional amount of time for a waitress to come over just to get a drink order to start off with. The place wasn't busy at All when we came in, it was impossible to find our waitress at times for such a small place. Eventually the food came out. The gyro was nothing Special, especially for a Greek restaurant. The Tzatziki sauce tasted like it was right from Costco. The Penne ala Vodka pasta sauce was watered down flavorless and the Pasta was over cooked. The baby squid was not baby Squid it was regular Calamari. They only gave 8 pieces and they were greasy.. The Side of Chicken had No flavor what so ever. No one came around asking for refills on drinks.. They also took my Plate away when i wasnt done eating as well. On top of it ALL they charge 4c on the dollar for using a card to pay the bill. The Bill was $77 and came out to $88 with the extra charge. Plus we had to hunt down our waitress to even get the bill. She was no where to be found for 10 mins.. I'll never go back again. Don't say I didn't warn You.. My daughter Nailed it on the ride home when she said. They threw Tzatziki sauce on everything and called it Greek.. Terrible...
Read moreI'm leaving my previous review down below to show how disappointed I am with our last visit. What happened to this place. We have been dining here for close to a decade and it's always been consistently good. Just had just about the worst meal we've ever had at the Aegean Cafe. The waitress initially refused to make a very small change to our order and had to be convinced by pointing out the requested item on the menu. The usual complimentary garbanzo and pita for the table is apparently no longer provided. The tatziki sauce used to be delicious; now way too salty and barely edible. The fried zucchini was mushy and the portion size much smaller. The pita bread was still very good but I'm pretty sure that it's not baked in the restaurant and sourced from a bakery. The spanakopita had a sour taste where in the past it was always delicious. We had to ask for the sauce that should have come with the entree. I'm so sad to have to go back and change my 5 star rating.
Old review: Reliably good and fresh Greek food. Diner style restaurant. Nothing fancy. Good food. Good prices. Friendly staff. We eat here all the time. Definitely...
