They do a horrible job of protecting the park patrons as a matter of fact every rule listed on parks rules & regulations page are NOT enforced EVER! #1 clearly states NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES PERMITTED & ANYONE UNDER THE INFLUENCE WILL BE REMOVED- that is a LIE! They do NOTHING but enforce rules that pertains to their ability to charge patrons more $ or give tickets all while ignoring rule #1. It has become so UNSAFE a place DO NOT BRING YOUR FAMILY TO THESE PARKS. People overdosing & dying in the bathrooms or tents regularly. They need bathroom monitors & better surveillance measures. The disrespectful treatment of the people regularly utilizing the Parks services by Park staff workers & rangers is nothing short of harassing & discriminatory at best. They pick & choose who they are kind and respectful to & waste time, $, & resources on the ones that actually do not deserve any compassion. Don't be fooled all these parks are cesspools of Suffolk County & they should be ashamed of themselves for their lack of effort in keeping Suffolk County Parks a place of safety & enjoyment for ALL. The egotistical power trip some of them are on is by far the saddest sight & they don't actually care about anything or anyone but themselves to be quite honest & it's a very big problem. So many changes need to be made across the board, far & wide to correct the multitude & magnitude of problems the Parks Department has lurking in the murky shadows just waiting to come to light. Overdose after overdose & violence. Not SAFE @ ALL!!!! Too much time spent on nonsense & way too little spent on major issues. They really need to get their acts together though. I could do a better job policing the BS. Big fat waste of county taxpayers money if you ask me, because they do nothing about legitimate issues & focus solely on things they 100% know are false allegations & accusations instead of dealing with the Bigger issues! KINDERGARTEN COPS that's what these phony...
Read moreBeware when making reservations!!! This is the first time I have booked a campsite with Suffolk County Parks. I was told that you can only make reservations on line. I made my reservation for Father's day weekend and it required a 4 night minimum. I booked Friday - Tuesday. After a couple of days I thought better of it and wanted to change it to Thursday - Monday so that I could setup my tent before the weekend and enjoy Friday night with no setup. I was told the only way I could do this was by going back online and cancel the reservation and rebook it. I started that process and it said that I would forfeit $35. For a $25 cancelation fee and $12 for a reservation fee. I called up the admin office and also wrote them at the contact us tab on the website. The confirmed that in order to keep the 4 days and just move the check in date that it would cost me the $35 in fees plus the $72 to rebook. On top of this if you wanted to add a day to your reservation it would be the same process. There is something seriously wrong with the reservation process and the customer service in Suffolk County Dept of Parks. Its really a shame because they are doing great things by adding live music to tge beach hut to...
Read moreReservations are made in stone but not really. I got the run around from Sayville which is the main office. They told me to call the specific camp ground to see if something could be done. Then the specific area told me to call back sayville because they are the only ones who have the power to switch the reservation. You have to know someone to get it switched . Kinda sad while I had the chance to have a group of us camp with several sites. They are losing money this way but hey, they just made 35.00 for nothing. I won’t be using these camp reservation systems for future dates. Best advice is to wait till the time of your appointment and make it then. They also allow less than 4 day minimums. Kinda disappointed as they are probably losing many people this way. They transferred me to a child named Melanie that was laughing while I tried to give them my number. She said the supervisor was on lunch at 300pm and would be back by 330pm. They close at 400pm…. You can clearly do the math on how this place...
