I dropped by bike off to sayville bike shop because it had ONE broken/stripped pedal. $70 later I was told I needed to pay for two pedals that were black and cheap quality ($20), not even matching my bike, in addition to a price to have had the bike looked over ($20) which was no my discussed with me, as well as a $25 charge for a new piece under my seat which I did not ask for or agree to. Plus tax, came to $70. I dropped the bike off for one pedal.
I expressed my concerns to sayville bike works which were the following;
1.) My pedals were thick durable pedals that matched my bike, I thought since they were a bike shop they could get the one pedal for me. This was the point I’m going to them.
2.) I never agreed to a charge for them to look over the bike.
3.) I did not ask them to fix my seat.
After expressing my concerns at sayville bike works, I was told that I could JUST call the company and maybe they would refund me since the bike is so new. What a poor answer to give a customer who you basically just stole money from. I am VERY disappointed with sayville bike works and I will make sure others are aware as well as anywhere else I can leave a review or whomever else I can contact. This was not right to do to someone. I work in Long Beach which has a ton of bike shops, yet I picked this one because I saw good reviews. What a shame.
PS. I now have two useless black pedals and nonsense charges because I called the company huffy and they shipped me one...
Read moreI like the service that Jeff provides. Three days ago there was a rechargeable light, a must-have. It has more lumens than my current Bontrager lamp. The bike was inverted three hours earlier to change a flat before a ride with an SBRA group. The mount snapped off with my gps/cellphone holder affixed to the light. I bought the new, rechargeable lamp for only forty-five dollars after the ride. It is much brighter with a flash pattern that gets your attention. The older light was adapted to a spare mount at home..I shoved it in to fit. Now my Trek has two powerful lamps to get the attention of less-skilled, inattentive drivers. SBW is along the train line nearby and the bus line that runs past the shop in case of a mechanical breakdown. It should be called "The Sayville Cycle Triage Unit". Some equipment is pricey and some affordable for the "less-financially endowed". I am not that well-endowed, yet a loyal customer. Should I edit that last sentence? Nah, leave it. Someone...
Read moreI brought my bike in last year because they had a great offer on a tune up that included repacking the headset and the bottom bracket. The bike was 25 years old and I thought it was a good idea. The first time I called for an appointment the owner said they were too busy and to call back in a week. I did and spoke to an employee who told me to bring the bike in. When I did the owner was there and tried to talk me out of leaving the bike because he was too busy. I told him I wanted the bike done and would wait however long. He asked if anything was wrong with the bike and I told him the back brake was making noise. He called me three days later and said the bike was done. The back brake had been adjusted but the front brake was still loose and the headset had miraculously be repacked without any of the rust on the bolt having been displaced. A week later I rode with a friend who had a chain checker and my chain needed to be replaced. IMHO I was charged for a tune-up that...
