My husband and I went into this shop today and purchased a lovely infuser set and one ounce of oolong for my friend for Christmas. I had received a lovely gift from a friend from this shop a few month ago, and enjoyed it so much, I wished to share my delight. I will now share the experience from both of our perspectives.
The place is very nicely set up, however a little cramped, which I took as a good sign, as there were many customers.
As soon as we walked in, we were asked if this was our first time by an enthusiastic owner. I really did not care to have a conversation, but said "yes" and smiled to be polite. "Are you looking for something specific?" She asked.
I proceeded to tell her, in layman's terms, about a cute teapot infuser i had received from her store. As I was already in the correct section for such an item, I continued to look at the wall with the displayed wares.
"Who got you the gift?" Still not wishing for a conversation i said "my neighbors" and turned away again to continue looking for something nice. "What are their names?" At this point i was almost done with this salesperson, however the store's inventory was so appealing, I figured that I could just pick something and be out of there quickly.
"Can i explain how the store works?" Silly me, i had assumed that since I was in a shop, i would tell the salesperson my order, pay money, and obtain such item. This was not the case.
It was explained that tea could not possibly be picked out because the salesperson "did not know enough about my friend's palette"...which i would have understood, IF I hadnt asked for a tea similar to the type of tea my friend drinks.
The owner then proceeded to tell a customer that her tea had been "anecdotely" tested over the past two years by herself, and was excited he was within the 2-6 hour window for her "cold and flu" tea, which she mixes and uses herself. Here were the instructions for usage. Drink tea within 6 hours of symptoms, and then throughout duration of cold in order to feel better. In my opinion, the same could be said for whiskey.
After my husband and I left with our gift, almost 20 minutes later (i had to ask for a gift bag 3 times and the other salesperson had trouble with the ipad checkout), we laughed all the way to the car about the obnoxious, pretentious staff.
Even though we may get lesser quality products elsewhere, I choose not to be sniffed at when choosing my small business vendors. What a shame, they would have had 2 very loyal customers if they weren't so...
Read moreI want to start off by saying I don't feel this tea bar derserves one star but I had to choose one star in order to start my review. The owner Kristine is a very domineering and opinionated person. In the 1st 10 min I was in the store she got upset with me because I asked her about her choice of honeys . She told me that the honey that I picked would not go well with the tea I picked because she felt that the honey would over power the tea. I explained to her that was the effect I was going for and that upset her. She spoke with me in a very firm voice and told me that she didn't agree with my choice. I was taken by surprise because I thought that the customer gets to choose what they want to buy. That is the way that it goes in most stores in America . From the time I told her I was ready to check out until the time she actually started to help me check out was over 10 min. She proceeded to ignore me even though I told her I was ready to purchase my items . She served various people cups of tea instead of helping me . She even served a women that came in 20 min after me instead of helping me 1st. My friend noticed all of this going on and she told me to tell her we are at lunch & had to go. Kristine very nastily told me that she only had 2 hands. I became upset at this point because it was apparent that she didn't want to help me. I picked the items up and placed them back on the shelf and said I will not be making a purchase and Kristine yelled back at me and said "Good" . I left the store. My friends who were with me didn't purchase anything either because they didn't like the way I was being treated. My friends who joined me were white, one of them pointed out to me that it was clear Kristine is racist. I already felt that way but her opinion helped me to see that I wasn't being sensitive and how I felt inside was true. I would not recommend patronizing...
Read moreThis was the weirdest experience ever. I usually enjoy supporting small business because I've always had good experiences with them, however, this place was not the case. Before I start, I will say that the blonde haired lady was very polite and it seemed like she was trying her best to keep the store atmosphere homey. We were actually looking for a place that served boba tea and google suggested Infuse Tea to us. We tried calling, but no one picked up the phone. It was around lunchtime, so we figured that they were out to lunch or they were busy. We decided to take a trip over. We walked in, and the store owner never once looked up or acknowledge us. At this point, I figured she was busy catering to her other customers, so we decided to be patient and window shop until they were less busy and ready to take our orders. The place did not look like they served boba tea because I saw no signs of the machines to make it or the powders. It was a truly authentic tea shop. So I was fully prepared to order something else. After a few minutes of waiting, the blonde lady asked if it was our first time here, which we replied with, "yes." My sister asked if they served boba tea, and the store owner finally spoke out and said, "We don't sell inferior tea here" as if our question was meant to insult her existence. It left us feeling extremely awkward. My sister then proceeded to say, "Oh. I'm sorry. We tried to call, but--" and the store owner rudely replied with, "Well, I'm busy with a store to run". I'm sorry, but as a business owner who's providing customer service, a part of your job is to pick up the phone. It was totally uncalled for and it just gave off the impression that she's socially inept. The store owner may be a tea expert, but she needs to work on her people skills. Oh, and please call google and tell them that you don't...
