If you haven't been part of the tabletop gaming or card gaming community for long, you are probably familiar with the air of pretentiousness that many cars shops have. If you're not some elite gamer who doesn't know every fact about every aspect of the game, you are ignored and or looked down on. This is a genuine problem in the community. I imagine buying cards as gifts for kids is also extremely difficult in these shops.
That said unplugged gaming is the most friendly and awesome shop around. These guys go way out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. The interactions aren't intimidating and you can tell they are passionate about the products they sell. Their online order and pickup system is fantastic! I love their single cards and they are always in amazing condition even when graded strictly. I can't say enough nice things about this place. I wish it wasn't a far drive for me because I would be in here every week to say hi and shop. I would give these guys my money ten times before I gave it to any other card store around.
I've been in all of them and this one is by...
Read moreThis place is amazing! One of my top five favorite businesses in my local area. They usually have a lot of hard to find items in stock (Including Trading Cards, Board Games, Collectables, & Much More), they have pretty good prices, & they have really friendly & helpful employees.
The only downside to this place is all of their displayed singles don't have any prices on them. In order to find out how much a card cost before you buy it, you have to walk over to a computer in the corner of their store & look up the price on that.
So when you're not completely sure what you want or how much you want to spend, it feels like you have to walk back-&-forth between the counter display & the computer over & over again to see what they have available & what the prices are.
Although that is just one somewhat irritating inconvenience as everything else about the store is absolutely S-Tier. The many pros greatly outweigh the one con & I can't recommend this...
Read moreI do really like Unplugged Gaming. They have a large, clean, and organized store with a very nice collection of everything. The staff is always friendly and helpful. My big complaint though is there pricing. I always try to shop and support FLGS and avoid Amazon when I can so I don't mind paying a little extra. I'm actually happy to pay extra to keep them in business. But some pricing seems really off. 2 examples I have are...
Azul summer pavilion mini edition was $44.99. This is like a $25 game. Now the full size summer pavilion retails for $40 so maybe this was a mistake.
I picked up another game that was about $50 and it was marked 50% off. I picked it since I thought it was a good deal. I ended up finding out that the game only retails for about $25.
These are 2 examples I found that games were marked up at/almost 50% retail. Like I said I'm more then happy to pay a little bit extra at FLGS and things do happen. But just...
