Everyone was so nice and helpful and admission was awesome at $5 per person and children 12 and under for free! We were greeted by 2 very welcoming greeters offering a free ice / cold aluminum red mug and a Saratoga fairgrounds bulletin paper. Today rides were free from 10 to 11 am and lasted a lot 3 minute average sample ride which was really nice. Lots of fair food which is always a bit pricey for my taste but it's a fair and I guess to be expected with bags of cotton candy going for over $5.00 a pop. Small soft ice cream either on a cone or cup with sprinkles was again over $5.00. games were as games usually are...3 shots for $5.00 or 8 for $10.00 and seemed to be what drained our wallet the most next to the fair fare! We were looking forward to seeing the 4h animals and we're excited to enter the open pavilion and got to see severely sets of different cows and calves but not much else..we were expecting to see maybe other farm animals as well. Further down the fair we did find rabbits and chickens in a different pavilion as well as bubba the goose a really adorable goose who was extremely friendly and loved to look at your jewelry as he is fascinated by shiny things! Bubba likes to be petted! As tempting as it was to stop at a lot of the different types of food stands and trucks we opted to eat at the 4h food stand under a large pavilion with many pic nic tables. The menu offered burgers and dogs even grilled cheese sandwiches, fries amoung many other things and prices weren't too bad. However 3 fries, 3 soft drinks and one cheese burger did run us $18 and change. I'm sure it would have cost more if we ended up ordering from the food trucks sprinkled throughout the fair. The tractor show was great for the Young and old alike! All in all it was...
Β Β Β Read moreMy family and some friends went to the 2023 fair on the last day. There were quite a few rides down due to mechanical problems. We paid the $25 for a wristband that allowed my three year old to ride anything without having to worry about "credits". The credit system replaced your average ticket scheme of so many tickets to ride a ride.
I must say the prices for food and drinks were impressively reasonable given it was a fair. We got a decent sized lemonade for only $8 and it was in a reusable cup. Refills were $5 but we didn't need that. Cotten candy, my wife's favorite, was also very reasonable though I forget exactly how much it was. We also looked at a few other food items with very reasonable prices but did not partake in anything else.
The games were also good. We only played the ones with a guaranteed win but even so there were plenty of options. The prizes were your average fair prizes; probably cost 5Β’ to make it and will only last a few days to a few weeks before breaking or otherwise. But it made my kid happy so it was worth it.
Again, this was all just from the 2023 fair. Your mileage may vary from year to year and the company who runs the rides. This year's fair was by...
Β Β Β Read moreAbsolutely unacceptable experience with security.
We were stopped and refused bag checks because we didnβt have tickets yetβeven though we had to pass security to get to the ticket booth. The security guard then raised his voice so aggressively it made my 5-month-old baby cry.
I explained what happened to the staff member who collects tickets, and she told me this same guard (and others) have had multiple complaints. One complaint she shared was that the same guard had allegedly exposed or touched his genitalia in front of children. This is horrifying and unacceptable behavior.
When I asked to speak to someone in charge, I was pointed to a man in a blue shirt (most workers wore red), who clearly did not care at all.
This level of unprofessional, inappropriate, and potentially dangerous behavior should never be toleratedβespecially in a family-friendly environment. Who is hiring these people and why are they still...
