Extra Space Storage — Local services in Town of Montgomery

I had originally given this property a 5 star review but due to recent events I must retract and lower to a two star review. Initially, I had signed up with extra space with the promise of one free month upon signing the contract, and then the following months would be at a specific price that was lower than most of the competition in the area. Upon arriving to the property I was told by the manager at the time Cindy that the special was over as of 12AM the day that I moved. I felt like it was a bait and switch, but then understood that these things can sometimes happen and I just came at the wrong time so I took that with a grain of salt and let it pass. Three months into my contract my rate was raised 36% from the original rate unbeknownst to me. I was told by the manager now that this rate change was sent to me by way of a postcard explaining the increase which I never received. If I was told that my rate would be increased by 36% on the onset of this move I would’ve never of signed up for them especially because I wasn’t able to have a free month like all the other facilities in the area offer. It should’ve been either emailed, mailed properly or even by text that that this would occur. I was never told on the onset of this contract that the rate would climb dramatically within three months of me storing my items with them. The Manager told me that this was common practice amongst my most facilities but I have two other units in different storage facilities that have not raised my rate within the last year and a half of me renting with them. I just feel I was bait & switched from the beginning and to have the price raised three months into my contract proves this. I will certainly be taking my Storage business somewhere else in the near future, but I want this review to be a warning to those who may not know the procedures of this company that are in no way beneficial to the client. I was in need of help immediately ,when me and my packed rented truck found out my purchased storage place closes on Sunday. With no help to get me in there that day I called extra space and from the first phone call & purchasing another rental to unloading my truck yes on a Sunday the staff here made it painless and guided me every step. Even calmed me down when I was max stresses. So thank you extra space storage I will yell from mountain tops there’s no other place for storage other than there if you want a smooth experience.
