As someone interested in Pokemon and newly entering the hobby, I am not the most informed on everything, especially with market prices vs retail prices. Upon calling here, the conversation was going well at first until I had questions regarding singles, booster boxes, and prices. I can understand the frustration behind answering questions, but in my opinion, there was a degree of rudeness that was uncalled for. For example, I had questions regarding a particular card that they had in stock, to which they responded with phrases that I was a little unfamiliar with. I attempted to ask another question, to which they interrupted me and mentioned to just come in instead rather than ask. When I attempted to ask for prices of other items, I was again dismissed with them stating that they could not and would not tell me, as I believe that I was of annoyance to them. I’m pretty new to the hobby of collecting sports cards. If your anything like me it can get overwhelming and very intimidating. I’ve been to many card shops all over the island and Long Island Sports Cards has easily become my favorite. Doesn’t matter who is at the counter, they always take their time and steer you in the right direction! John isn’t out to make a quick buck and sell you the most expensive thing like a lot of other card shops in that area do. He has never made me feel silly or stupid for asking a question about any cards . I brought him a particular card my son and I believed was worth a lot, turned out to be a 5 dollar card! My boyfriend has recently gotten into collecting basketball cards and I’ve been trying to learn more about the hobby and find things to gift him. I grew up in Albertson and was really excited to learn about this shop! Jon and Josh welcomed me—an absolute fish out of water—so graciously and took their time to impart knowledge and help me find exactly what it is that I was looking for.
