Not the best experience I've had donating blood to NYBC. I've been donating over 10 years and this was my first time at Lake Success location.
Some staff were pleasant, some not. I had to report one young man (long hair, pony tail, glasses) because he scoffed at me when I sat facing him so I can look straight - I have a neck injury.
Woman who drew my blood (short, Spanish) barely looked at me or spoke to me, even when I asked her questions and tried to engage her. Very unwelcoming. Never asked if I was comfortable, and left my shoulder elevated on the armrest - she wasn't friendly so I didn't bother asking her to adjust it.
Called for directions, kept being told "across from Party City" meanwhile it's two entire traffic lights north.
And the donor bathroom was disgusting, like a fast food restaurant. I got there at 12noon, there's just no way it got so dirty from that morning. It must have not been cleaned for days, meanwhile the staff bathroom was immaculate (the door was open and I looked inside).
I usually go to Manhattan to donate and will do so going forward. At Lake Success some staff aren't as welcoming and kind as they should be and it's filthy.

Read moreHORRIBLE WASTE OF TIME. After receiving multiple texts about the need to donate my o blood, I unexpectedly had time between errands. I went online from my phone and found time at 11:30 am. After being told I was next and half an hour of waiting, I found that I was skipped 4 times when people that came after me without an appointment were already seated and donating. The staff member, a grey haired man, forgot all about me. After the phlebotomist advised that the process would take another 30 minutes that I do not have. I had to go home and cook to feed my daughter. There are no apologies offered. Has it been forgotten that we are donating time and our blood? It was a very disappointing day. AVOID AVOID AND AVOID THIS PLACE. It has gone downhill. The waiting area was also poorly managed with NO SOCIAL DISTANCING and the front desk guy was missing for a period of time that the phlebotomist asked me where he was before asking me...
Read morePlace is okay and the staff is friendly for the most part.. the biggest reason why I go here is because it's closer for me. However two things one you have to wait a while five people went ahead of me they always take the people that are doing platelets before you. Lastly the person that takes your blood pressure usually is incorrect . I just came from a doctor's office just prior to that appointment and he had something ridiculously higher. Reason being is he rushes to take it. I've never had my blood pressure taken is 5 seconds in my life. Therefore, you're going to get an inaccurate reading. I checked my pressure afterwards and was significantly lower than what he had. It was like night and day I noticed and mentioned to him about using the smaller cuff and he needed to use a larger one but he was such a rush and I still waited another 20 minutes after that...
