This place has anything an athlete or gamer dreams of; a game room, pools with a 10 foot diving section, lap lanes, kiddy pool, a waterslide section, open pool areas, basketball court, wall ball & tennis court. The problem is, I live 35 minutes away but have family that live in New Hyde Park with a membership. It's required for an outsider including me to be accommodated by a real ID New Hyde Park resident in which the price for my mom and I to get in with my godmother who lives in New Hyde Park was $33 as two adults almost 3 weeks ago to use their pool deck. Rules are sometimes broken at this place such as no coolers with food and beverages, but I sometimes witness litter on the pool decks when I'd go which used to be 4 times per summer which was when I almost turned 12 in 2010, but now it's rare to go due to nobody I can rely on in New Hyde Park to accommodate me to spend the morning throughout most of the afternoon there doing tennis, sunbathing, jumping or diving on the diving board with a 10 foot section and swimming in the lap lanes for exercise. It's because those relatives from New Hyde Park have other commitments and I hope to go a few times before Labor Day to have some enjoyment and catch rays with open sunlight for most of the day.

My sisters and I came to this pool and didn’t expect the rude behavior and racism we had to go through. They clearly saw what we were wearing and charged us and then later said you can’t go into the pool wearing that. We decided to leave and asked for a refund since we didn’t even step into the pool and they denied us a refund and threatened to call the police on us. We asked for their name since they were literally talking down to us and they said they don’t want to share their name because they knew they were treating us indifferently. If you are a person of color, you are clearly NOT welcomed here. The staff we had to deal with were culturally incompetent and ignorant.

On July 6, 2025, at approximately 4:00 PM, while in the kiddie pool with my 3-year-old child, I was approached by a staff member who informed me that I was not permitted in the pool while wearing “regular clothes.” I politely explained that I was, in fact, wearing a bathing suit with cover-up swim pants. Rather than accepting this clarification, the staff member responded with, “I’ve never seen this before,” and continued to question the appropriateness of my swimwear. I unfortunately did not get this staff’s name.

Despite my respectful explanation, the staff member appeared skeptical, even though it was proper swim attire. What is especially troubling is that this same individual was observed in the summer of 2024 approaching other women of color with similar criticisms of their swimwear, raising serious concerns about discriminatory behavior.

I find this deeply concerning. The staff’s behavior was not only rude, confrontational but also indicative of targeting people of color, which is unacceptable.

If there is an official policy regarding swimwear, specifically regarding cover-ups or the type/length of swim attire, this should be clearly posted and provided to all members. Otherwise, these interactions appear to be rooted in bias. I strongly urge management to address...

Clinton G Martin is a complete disaster. The staff here are not just incompetent, but also incredibly rude and disrespectful. If you are a person of color, you are clearly NOT welcomed here. The staff we had to deal with were incredibly ignorant. Save yourself and go somewhere else where they actually understand how to treat people with respect and not based of what you look like. Clinton G Martin should be ashamed...
