This company allows its employees to drive customers' cars for personal use and permits them to drive without a valid US driver's license. One of their employees hit my parked car as I was exiting it. At the time of the accident, I wasn't aware he worked for an autobody shop. He claimed to be driving a family member's car and presented a Mexican driver's license, which was invalid for driving in the US. He's not on vacation; he's living and working in NY. You need a valid driver's license. The accident occurred in Ridgewood, Queens, near the employee's residence, which is over 30 minutes away from the auto body shop. He later provided an insurance card from the glove compartment, prompting me to initiate a claim as he was at fault.
However, the insurance company denied my claim, stating that the employee was "test" driving the car as part of his job, and the auto body shop, Paul's Great Neck Auto Repair, would take full responsibility. I communicated with Angel and Paul (the owner) from the auto body shop.
Paul requested that I bring my car to his shop for repairs, but I lost trust in them due to the employee's misrepresentation. Instead, I took my car to another nearby auto body shop, expecting Paul to cover the costs. However, negotiations between the two body shops failed, as Paul was unwilling to pay the quoted amount. Despite my insistence, he refused to involve his insurance company and persisted in asking me to bring my car to his shop. Given the circumstances, I couldn't trust him with my car.
After two weeks of fruitless discussions, I had to file a claim with my own insurance, causing inconvenience and delays in the repair process. The incident underscores the negligence of allowing their employees to drive without proper credentials. I advise caution before choosing this auto body shop for repairs, as there's a risk of accidents involving...
Read moreI’m reluctant to leave a review because I have very mixed feelings since my last visit. I had come to Paul to see if he can help me out with my extended warranty and getting my horn fixed, oil change and headlights checked out. Unfortunately Jeep of East Hills was giving me a hard time scheduling me, let alone helping me find out what is covered under the extended warranty. They would not give me any appts, told me my horn couldn’t be fixed until months later. It’s pretty scary driving without a horn. Also gave me different answers on if my horn and lights are covered. Long story short, I wanted to give the local guys business and Paul said he could easily get me a horn the same day and it would only cost around $100. No mention of the oil change, no mention of the lights. I thought great! This is a good price and I can get it fixed sooner. After the horn was put in the next day, Angel gave me my final price which made my stomach drop. $400+ dollars later I’m being charged for a horn replacement. He didn’t tell me he was charging labor just to take the front bumper off to fix the horn, as if he (Paul) didn’t know that before hand. Thank God for Angel (literally) because he cut the price down immensely. Paul tried to charge me for 4 hours of work when it was only 1.5 hours TOPS! He charged me $100 for 1 horn and only $45 for the other horn (2 horns in a vehicle). The labor was twice the amount of the horn. I even went to Jeep of Garden City the day after that and they did a diagnostic check, oil change and put back my stock lights because the LED’s are busted, all for $200. Unless it’s a simple oil change, make sure you know what you’re paying for. Which I’m still being charged $125 for an oil change when Jeep only charges $100, I wouldn’t recommend it. If they want to make it right, given the fact that I just explained the situation in full detail, they...
Read moreI went on two occasions and was impressed with the high level of service, expertise, equipment, their hours open, price, and friendliness.
First time was for a headlight. They changed it in 10 mins. When had to pay, realized I forgotten my wallet (I know, big Duhh moment). Angel, like the angel he is, let me have my car and calmly told me to bring the money 'whenever'. I went back and paid it soon, though.
Second time was for my air heater/cooler/or AC. Long story, short, they had it for two days, trying to create an invention, to fix it - only because he was trying to save me money from buying a certain expensive part. Paul and his crew somewhat succeeded. Although not fully fixed, they improved the issue. Paul tried talking with my extended warranty co, trying to get coverage for me, and advised me to cancel it. Upon picking up my car, I asked him how much I owe. Paul just said, "Ahh, no charge." I was like 'hey, let me pay something'. He said 'Next time'. So, I said I'll write him some good reviews. He was like,...
