Spear Physical Therapy — Local services in Town of North Hempstead

If you need physical therapy, I cannot recommend Spear Physical Therapy highly enough! I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis last year, and on several occasions throughout the year, I experienced horrific lower back spasms that rendered me basically immobile for 3 days at a time. Despite my diagnosis, my neurologist informed me that this was not normal (I thought it was), and recommended that I go to physical therapy.

I found Spear Physical Therapy completely by accident, as it is located inside the Equinox Great Neck gym, at which I am a member. (Note: You do not have to be an Equinox member to go to Spear PT though.) I started going and working with Tom in January 2023, and I went from having monthly back spasms to practically none at all!

Tom takes his time to explain all of the exercises, and also explain why they are efficient for your specific problem. If at any point in time you're uncomfortable and/or in pain, he is quick to provide an alternative exercise.

His assistants and front desk staff are also amazing! They are quick, kind, and helpful! There have been a handful of times where I needed to cancel/reschedule last minute, and they are very accommodating!

Spear is widely known as the best physical therapy practice in the city, and I had a very successful knee rehab at the Union Square location. This was a huge win as I had knee injuries and pain for nearly a decade and had seen other PTs, but after working with my Spear PT, I never had knee pain again and was able to resume running.

After moving to Long Island and experiencing neck/shoulder pain that was affecting everything from my sleep to work to exercise, it was a breath of relief to see Spear had opened its first LI location in Great Neck. While other practices make the insurance and scheduling process a hassle, Hibana at the front desk makes everything seamless and clear, and I was quickly scheduled with the clinic director, Tom. Thus far, I've been impressed with Tom's keen observations of my problem spots, and I have confidence in the personalized strength and mobility plan he's put together.

The location is inside an Equinox, and it is bright and clean. The Techs, Bartley and Hallie, are always attentive and available to assist. They also keep the place well-maintained and spotless. I started coming here a few months ago to deal with an ankle injury. I was having issues even while walking and would feel pain doing everyday movements. I’m very active and do a mix of weight training, running, and combat sports so something as “small” as a weakened ankle is pretty detrimental to my training.

It was really crucial for me to find a doctor who could help me recover and address the pain points, but also help me build up the strength/stability in my ankle and legs so I could be in a better condition than where I started. It wasn’t really an option for me to recover simply by resting and doing nothing, and I wanted to find a team that could help me stay on track with my goals in a manageable way.
