Juliet Billiard Cafe — Local services in Town of Poughkeepsie

Going to be very blunt here, the bartenders were great but the atmosphere was terrible. We don't go out very often and last night we decided to make an occasion, so we go to this bar that had a English speaking crowd, yet the DJ was blasting some terrible Spanish Techno type music that made no sense. There were people line dancing to it, a clear signal that you need to play a wider selection of music. The bar owners or at least they looked like the owners stood by and did nothing about it. When we asked the DJ to play a song for us, he said if it's in English he will not play it and will only play Spanish music. The DJ is the reason we left, he was rude and obnoxious and his taste in music was trash as well as being a bad DJ and not playing to your crowd. In today's world of consumerism, you need to learn to play to your audience and customers. The bar gets 2 stars because the owners did not seem to even have a problem with how bad the DJ was and did nothing to change...

The tables are fairly well maintained. They need to be cleaned, trimmed and leveled, but they are decent. The food is passable for "bar food". The ambiance is even quite nice. The management is the worst I have seen. Ever. In the middle of summer, with a full hall, the air conditioning is turned off to the billiards area, but not to the cash register. There were extremely young children in the billiards area (not older than 5) playing, running around, throwing balls, and tripping other players... at 11:30 PM. Go find a nice bar table and save money and frustration. It could have been great, but the management is garbage. If you don't actually like pool... have a blast, neither do the people who own...

So, it's a pool hall, so didn't have high expectations, but wow, they were pretty bad. It was slow, we sat at the bar to eat, then planned on playing pool. It took over 30 minutes to get our food... when the was literally no one there. Beyond this, the were 2 bartenders and not once did they ask if we wanted more drinks. While I understand that we were drinking soda, again, the were very few other people there. The 2 bartenders basically talked to each other, a friend, and were on their phones. Once we finally got our food, I no longer wanted to stay to play. They had a DJ there, and the music was so loud, it was awful. Couldn't...
