I only gave a 4-Star rating because it took 3 hours to get a GREAT deal for my 2025 Rav4 XLE. This was not because of the 5 month newbie sale consultant Stephanie Barrera, but the wonderful sales manager Ray Hungria. Unfortunately, Stephanie wasted much of my time... I came in for the $249 April lease deal on the Rav 4 XLE. We did the deal. But after an hour was told NO GO. I lived in Ct and tried to push twice for the silver car on the lot which I did not want (claiming to give me a good deal) - I gave a choice of a white or blue vehicle. Then she had to find a car. So after sitting 20 minutes I went to the back and asked what they were doing and she said they found a $40,000 car!! Again wasting my time. If I came in for $249 payments she should have listened and knew at the go I was not paying a monthly payment of $400 or even $300!! The ad was for $249 monthly, $4,000 down plus the taxes and fees. Though I was not getting that exact deal anymore it was going to be close. So Ray saw my frustration and stepped. He asked how he could help and help he did. We agreed on a monthly lease payment close enough to $249, gave me $1000 more for my trade than originally stated, took money off the sticker price of the car they found so I could lease the vehicle and be very happy! This is how you do business. I saw Stephanie's face when all was done and I asked what was wrong and she said I should have spoken to her... Ridiculous. She had no authority to make a deal like that and she had already wasted almost 3 hours of my time trying.
Read the paperwork before you sign. I ended up finally signing a 3rd deal. The second agreed shaken hand agreement before paperwork was signed did not read RAV 4 XLE only RAV 4 (not okay) especially because they were still looking for the car. They also added $.99. to my monthly payment for a 39 month lease this is an additional $38.61 in their pocket.
One last thing...A couple of the sales people are extremely unprofessional. As I was waiting at Stephanie's station a guy on my right and girl to my right back corner were joking and he said "If they don't buy hang up" and she said "If they don't buy DIE". I couldn't believe it! It was in jest but I was sitting within earshot. I said to the girl nicely you should watch what you say around customers and she asked what I was talking about. I repeated what she said and she denied it! The guy just looked at her said nothing. I said I know what I heard and I am just looking out for you. She did not apologize or own it. Not very professional behavior around a customer.
If you are going to make a deal. Talk to the salesperson. If you are not happy talk to Ray Hungria - He can make the difference at...
Read moreTLDR: Dealership handed me around to nine different representatives and tried to increase the agreed upon price once the car came in.
In March of 2024, after searching around various dealerships, I decided to put in a deposit for a car with Toyota City. They told me the wait would be 4-6 months. In May, the car went into stop-sale, which I know comes from Toyota and isn't the dealership's fault.
The problem came in how I was handled, and the aftermath. At the beginning, I was talking with one salesperson over the phone. When I came in to do my test drive and get information, it was a different salesperson. Then a third salesperson reached out to me to give me the quote. When in stop-sale I came back to see if I wanted to move the deposit over to a different car, and was handled by a fourth salesperson, as well as the manager (fifth person), but decided to stay with the original car and wait for the stop sale to end.
As Toyota got closer to ending the stop-sale this fall, I called to discuss details, and was assured by a sixth person that the agreed upon price back in March would be honored. This was reconfirmed once a seventh person reached out to me via text and phone call to let me know that the stop-sale had ended and they were getting cars.
Unfortunately, with all of these different people, my info started to get scrambled, and they couldn't even keep simple things like my correct address in their system. I was offered the same car with features I didn't want by four different people, and had to say no four times.
Finally, one of the people I had previously spoken to said that a car near my specifications was coming in, and that the sales manager would call me to finalize. That call never came, and I called for several days with no response. Finally, a different sales manager (eighth person) called me back and said they couldn't sell to me at the price they quoted me in March- that the car was selling for a few thousand dollars more now.
I decided at that time to terminate my relationship with them. For reference, the dealership that I am now with says the msrp of that car from last year to this year is about the same, so there should not have been the price hike.
Mamaroneck assured me that my deposit would be refunded within a week. It was not, and again I could not get in touch with the sales manager. I finally talked to one last sales manager (ninth person) who sent a check in the mail, but I had to fix my address with them for the third time.
Toyota City Mamaroneck prides itself on Transparency, Efficiency, and Respect. Unfortunately I found them to provide the exact opposite of all three of those things, and I recommend you...

I've struggled a little bit with my rating here because I still feel I was misled on my initial phone call with Michael Hall, who confidently assured me both that he could meet our budget goal with the specific car I mentioned and also that he would fully communicate about our phone call with his sales staff, neither of which happened. So the only caveat to my five-star rating is that whatever they say to get you in the door may or may not be completely true when you get there.
However. I begrudgingly understand this tactic, because their team is pretty damn remarkable and they worked with us for quite a long time to get us as close to our goal as they could. We wound up purchasing a significantly nicer car than we expected, and the final price was more than fair, even if it exceeded our stated budget.
While he exaggerated on the phone with me, Michael Hall was certainly the most engaging and confident person I spoke to via phone throughout the whole car buying process. Walking into the dealership also felt different. There was an air of competent professionalism and customer service that we had quickly learned is not a given in this industry.
We were paired with Ginny as our salesperson, and she is quite special. I feel grateful to have had her working with us through the process. As many others have stated, Joe was also an absolute delight of a human being and went through all of our new car's features patiently and efficiently. Both of them were also just kind, generous people who took an interest in us as humans, which was nice. The finance manager, whose name I cannot remember, was also very kind and good at his job. We felt no pressure to purchase the warranties, and there were no weird hidden fees or scammy-feeling add-ons, which we were expecting. Additionally, we were not pressured to use or keep their financing. Basically, all of the things the internet warns you about car dealerships, this place does not do. Because of that and their wonderful team, I would drive the two hours back, out of state, to purchase a car from them...
