This is the first archery place I decided to visit when I got my bow. It was about $20-$25 per hour & I didn't get much instruction besides the initial QUICK how to shoot instructions. It was very brief considering I was the only customer there who didn't know how to shoot. I was actually the only person there for a while until a lady came to shoot long range. I went back with my boyfriend one day last year since it was closer, & they barely showed him anything. He got a rental bow & they didn't even offer him a finger tab...I had to tell him to ask them for one, which they reluctantly provided. I felt like the instructions I got were brief, and his was even faster...
I called when my nephews were visiting NY and asked them what ages could come to shoot there. They told me 10+ and I asked for prices too ($25 for rental bows each). The youngest of the 3 had just turned 10, so I was lucky and said thank you and I drove up there. Ok...driving with kids takes a bit longer than 30 minutes, but it's normally 30 minutes from my house. So I drove there and parked, got them out of the car and got my bow out too. I went to the desk to ask them to rent 3 bows. They guy at the desk was talking to some people, so I waited a bit, then when he looked over at me to find out what I needed, I asked him if I could rent 3 bows and get instructions for the kids...he said "For them?" I said yes. He asked me how old the youngest one was, so I told him the ages of all three 10, 11 and 12 (almost 13). He said..."For them, no, for you, yes..." He asked me if I had an appointment for lessons because there was only him and the guy who repairs bows and he can't leave the counter. (I could see the guy, he had a clear view of the store just as the guy at the counter did. I mean...they weren't far apart in location. I said I called and asked for prices and even asked how old was the minimum age for shooting about 30 minutes before and even drove all the way there. He still refused! I gave up and called my sister and she said to ask If I could give them lessons (long shot...like they'd let that happen for safety...which I totally understand) I asked and they of course said no. So...they missed out on $75 for lessons for 3 kids plus another 20 for me to shoot because the guy was too lazy to teach people how to shoot...I mean...how hard would it have been for the guy who "Does repairs to the bows" to keep an eye on the front while he gave them lessons? I should have gone to the archery place in Queens, but it would be a 2.5 hour train ride each way...with kids, and on that day, it didn't open until 6, so my sister didn't want them out that late. (If we spent an hour there, we wouldn't get home until after 9:30, & that's IF we only spent an hour, & if we left the house b4 3:30)
Bad luck on my part. I honestly couldn't believe the guy refused to give them lessons. Worst archery place ever! If I go there, it's only because I don't have time to spend 5 hours on the train, and I'm taking someone with me. The other place is cheaper and doesn't charge by the hour.
So, they visited New York & didn't get to do archery...
If you don't mind paying, and already know how to shoot and have your own bow, it's an okay place to go visit. Not many lanes & not many people there shooting either (probably because customer service is poor) so you end up getting to shoot a lot more with less downtime... but if you actually want to learn how to shoot with actual feedback and corrections, this isn't going to be the place for you. Honestly, I haven't had any luck with these guys when I needed anything from them. Extreme Archery = Bad News!
Usually workers are mean if you're mean to them. I learned that ages ago & make a point not to be when I get frustrated or don't get my way. I was pleasant with them throughout the whole situation & smiled while waiting to be helped, & while trying to get him to teach them, so I honestly can't say it was because of any attitude on my part. Even though I didn't get my way, I didn't treat them badly because I know I may go back...
Read moreInventory is impressive, prices are very reasonable. I went in to get my first bow since I was a child, was looking for a used bow but the older man convinced me out of it telling me he couldn’t “guarantee” a used bow. I took his word thinking if i had an issue, he would make good on it. the gentlemen that helped me sight in the bow was top notch and told me i had an hour of shooting time that came with the bow to come in whenever to make sure i was 100% happy. A month goes by and the bow would shoot perfect every time i took it out the case every sunday. This sunday comes around and the bow snaps both arrows i shot(i’ll attach photos of the last 6 arrows out of the bow). Bow is all out of alignment and the string and cables started to fray. After looking into it more the cable slide had slid all the way forward letting the cables go almost in line with where the arrow would shoot. None the less the string and cables seem to have never been waxed and the top of the peep sight isn’t tied off. And I had an issue with the arrows pulling the field tips and inserts right out of the arrows because they didn’t use much (if any) glue before all of this. Of course he wouldn’t guarantee the bow or tell me PSE’a warranty, just told me to leave the bow and pay up to have it restrung, or to get out. Long story short i would not recommend any of their work, only thing i’d buy off their shelf after all this, if i was a new customer is a target, make the drive to upper westchester don’t deal with these know it alls. I was told not to deal with them from multiple older guys i had spoke to and i wish i wouldn’t have. If you are reading this, DONT MAKE THE...
Read moreWent in with my husband who’s new to bow hunting to serve as his translator. We went the first day just to look around and we were treated so well my husband was still talking about their excellent customer service the day after. We went in the next day (today) to purchase and we couldn’t have left more pleased with the purchase, service, and patience. They are really nice gentlemen! What impressed us further was that they didn’t take advantage of my husband’s lack of knowledge thinking he had to buy certain items. They didn’t try to upsell for the sake of making more money. On the contrary, they advised that certain things weren’t necessary. They are there because they have a passion for the sport NOT to take ur money. We really felt cared for and we greatly appreciate it. Service like this is REALLY hard to find. Thank u to all 3 of the gentlemen but a special shout-out to Joe who help us from start to finish. I could go on about a lot more, all positive) but that would make this review very very long. Just GO and see for yourself! Ok I’ll add one more thing: Their stock is A1! Everything u want or need you...
