I was in Frank's getting a watch battery and asked him to put my 3 karat sapphire engagement ring in the cleaning bath. When Frank saw it, he took notice of it and then cocked his head and said,"I need to look at this with my loop." He looked at me and said, whoever made this ring, cut your stone to make it fit together with the wedding band. I took it right up to a forensic appraiser the next day to discover that the stone had lost all of it's $11K value! I was beside myself! I had worn the ring for 7 years before finding this out! I contacted the man who set the stone and made the mounting at a very upscale shop in Dutchess County. He told me he didn't cut it and that the stone was worn down by the diamonds in the wedding band I wore underneath it (which he had made for me at the same time). He did nothing but offer me the opportunity to buy a new stone from him at cost. After taking the ring to another appraiser and a lapidary who all confirmed that the stone had been cut, I sued the jeweler. He prevailed on the statute of limitations. In other words, he fooled me long enough to get away with it! In the end, my insurance company decided to cover my loss and Frank and Diane got me the most amazing stone and fixed my mounting to bring it to a place of perfection. Not only are the proprietors of Frank's knowledgeable and skillful, they are also honest, kind and have great integrity! They work with you to achieve the results you want with NO PRESSURE! What a gift it is to be have a community jeweler that you can trust to do the best job at the best price with the best...
