I canât even begin to say how much we LOVE Alleyway Icecream! Every single flavor, scrumptious! The owner, Julian, is an incredibly gracious, humble owner who always has a smile as do his wonderful crew of window attendants always happy to serve out their form of love in a cup or cone. Support this locally run, fabulous house made ice cream shop the next time youâre looking for a sweet treat! Bravissimo! OkâŚhad to leave an updated reviewâŚwould be 10 âď¸ if I could..,because, Lo, and Behold! Alleyway has done it again! A new favorite - the most insanely delectable MANGO ice cream. Blew me away, and I canât stop thinking about it. Although, I feel so loyal to several of Julianâs other flavors - Caramel Popcorn, Thai Tea Cookies & Cream, and Lemon Poppyseed take the next spots. I mean, look at that lineup of flavors! Thereâs the creamiest strawberry, my sonâs person fav: Ube Heathbar Crunch, and a slew of other specialty appearances throughout the season, like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Matcha Pistachio and Key-lime Pie, as well as more standard flavors, such as Madagascar Vanilla and Chocolate Sorbet. Every single one of the flavors are insurmountable, yetâŚthis Mango needs to win all kinds of awards. If there were Michelin Stars awarded to ice cream places, theyâd be slapping that accolade on this tiny, yet fierce, little jewel of a storefront located in a humble alleyway in Saugerties right now. ...
Read moreI was lucky enough to stumble upon Alleyway Ice Cream on the day they opened back in July of 2017. I was instantly amazed at not only the size of the place but the mere fact that they were selling homemade ice cream out of it.
The vanilla bean I had that day was life changing, but, what I remember most is Julian's passion for ice cream and building something of his own. Two years later, Alleyway Ice Cream, Julian, and Paldon have truly built a business where people can come and enjoy ice cream and build lasting memories that will surely have them coming back for more. There's nothing like making fun of the friend who drops his mini cone :P
But most of all, businesses like this bring good press and foot traffic into towns full of culture like Saugerties, that people might have otherwise passed by. In the last two years I've brought a bunch of friends and family here and many have come back on their own when in the area. Everyone can agree that the people and interactions are just as rewarding as the ice cream itself.
As the awards and notoriety become more plentiful, (and the lines longer) it is clear that Alleyway Ice Cream is not only #1 in NY, but, #1...
Read moreOutstanding service and spectacular scratch made icecreams; joy in a cup or on a cone! Considering the fine ingredients, creativity and expertise with which this ice cream is made it is worth it. Many people have no problem paying $$$ for a pint of icecream made in industrial factories by Unilever (B&J's anyone?) and they probably don't send them letters or write reviews complaining about the price. When I've told Julian and his staff that I drive an hour a few times a season to enjoy their treats, they've always asked if I have a cooler and ice. The one time I forgot to do so they took care to package my extras so they survived the ride. I love the ube Heath bar crunch and my little brother's favorites are the Thai tea cookies & cream and the key lime crunch. I'm sure the more traditional flavors are great too, but honestly I've enjoyed the unique selections so much that I haven't tried them yet. Cinnamon toast crunch, honeycomb chocolate swirl, blueberry sour cream, pumpkin 5-spice crunch, ovaltine brownie... seriously! I was daydreaming about the things I love about Springtime and I googled "when does Alleyway Icecream open for...
