My dog has been seeing Dr. Darby for years. I noticed she wasn’t acting like herself and also noticed some type of sore on her left paw. I Ofcourse Immediately notified the office. As soon as I got ahold of the receptionist, she was very short, unfriendly, and quite honestly ...disrespectful. The receptionist proceeded to tell me my dog would ONLY be able to come in during the morning time. I continued to tell her my spouse and I both work during the morning time ( as 99.9% of most people do). My dog is almost 8 years old and any other time they were happy to schedule me during the evening. For some reason this time, it was different. The receptionist even told me that there were open times available during the evening but “we could only be seen in the morning”. Like I said, I continued to tell her very politely that we work at this time and it would be impossible for us to miss work on such short notice, so I continued to tell her I would like to come in during the evening time as we always do. She told me this was impossible, that Dr. Darby stated that he will only see my dog during the morning time and only at 7am, even though there were open times in the evening, he could not see her. I was completely baffled. For the past 8 years, I have NEVER had an issue coming in for an evening appointment , just as people who work usually do. After he continued to refuse care, I simply stated to the receptionist that I would have to take my dog to another vet for this time as I cannot come at that time. Working people need to make a living but I also love my dog & Wanted her to be okay. Honestly, I am completely shocked. How can I be refused care for my dog? Plus the receptionist said I couldn’t see the other vet even though she had open times in there evening according to Dr. Darby. Well Low & behold , I was notified today that I am “banned” from the office from Dr. Darby. He stated this is all because I stated I will have to take my dog to another vet? I love my dog & will do what I have to do for her to get care!!! Apparently my comment bothered him that much I am “banned” from this office and so is my dog (who did absolutely nothing wrong, like I said she saw him for almost 8 yrs.) Honestly to me it sounds like a case of Dr. Darby being on high horse all because I did was any good dog momma would do & that’s get care for my dog. I tried very hard to get them to see us during the evening but dr Darby continued to refuse but could not give me a reason whatsoever. Really? Refusing care even though he had plenty available appointments? him not “letting” me see another vet in house? banning” me & my dog from the office? & he removed her chart?!!! ... which I was ALSO made aware today. I have ALL of these conversations recorded because I couldn’t believe this. I honestly still can’t believe this is someone who “cares about animals?”. I am a nurse I work 40-60 hours a week & I am a business owner with over 1,100 clients. I know how business should be done. I know that people should be treated with respect , kindness, & I know all of the above violates so MANY codes /ethics. Seems to me for some reason I am being discrimated against. Needless to say, I found a new vet in Canandaigua & they are amazing! They took time to see her, evaluate her, & didn’t rush at all! Now that I am looking through the comments on these reviews, I see I am not the only one with issues. I have worked with doctors for years. Some get this inferiority complex and I can clearly see that because he thinks he’s a “doctor”... he can do whatever he wants, discriminate, bully and refuse to care...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible "Practice" to do business with. When I moved back to Seneca Falls in 2018 I researched various vet services for my dog, Lucy. One of Dr. Darby's reviews stated, "brought my dog after being hit by a car" to the SFVH for attention, and was told that they would not see the animal, although in dire straights, b/c their pet was not a PT there. So I thought I better bring my Lucy there, because it was the closest to my residence, and so she could be seen should she have at emergency.
I took Lucy to Dr. Darby for EVERY single appointment form 2 yrs until she was almost 8 years old. SFVH was the only Practice to ever see my pet for 6 years. Finally on a Thursday afternoon I called to make an appointment, and was told she couldn't be seen until Monday. I told them that I would be willing to wait in their parking lot all day, so they could squeeze Lucy in on Friday. Then I was told that they could not do that and that she couldn't be seen until Monday.
Long story short, Lucy was brought to The Auburn Emergency Vet Hospital and she had to be put down the next day, to prevent further pain and suffering. Realizing that I was a train wreck I waited until Tuesday of the following week to write an EMail to Dr. Darby providing him with all the Auburn Vet's blood work, x-rays and findings letter .l. asking that Dr. Darby take a look at these issues and give me his opinion on Lucy's condition. I confirmed with the front desk staff that they did get the EMail. After no response in the next two weeks I called the office to check on the status of their response and was told .... Yeah, we chose not to respond to your inquiry. In my EMail I said that I was willing to pay for an office visit for this evaluation. Still they choose NOT to respond, to call me to let me know that they would not be responding, or provide any closure.
Dr. Darby's Practice spends more time caring for his Range Rover Discovery vehicle (that costs more than most of his client's houses) than he does for pets in his care. By my experience, they are EXTREMELY unprofessional, he may be OK to give vaccinations to your pet, or even selling your 3 x's mark up on flea/tick medicine, but absolutely no empathy. Needless to say, I will never set foot in that organization again as they only care about your money and...
Read moreI’ve taken one of my cats here since the beginning and never had any trouble with staff ever. We’ve always loved everyone at Darbys. Mind you, we have always had Dr. Darby. We have since gotten two kittens, with one of the cats we noticed a lump on his neck, so we got him in and was seen by an older woman that works part-time instead of Darby. First occurrence was fine, she said to call if I noticed any changes or if the lump does not decrease in size. So about 2 months later, I called to get the cat in because I felt a second lump next to the prior one that also remained unchanged in size. They got us right in which was great. We had the same lady, and the entire conversation that was had was extremely unprofessional and insensitive. Of course, she could not feel the second lump so I looked like a delusional cat lady in her eyes I’m sure. She made me feel degraded by some of the comments she made. She had said “stop petting him”, “you should be a massage therapist with those hands because I don’t feel a thing”. I don’t care if this was part sarcasm or not, that is extremely insensitive to say to a patient. As someone that works in healthcare, I’d be written up if I spoke to patients with that tone and delivery. Needless to say I hope something comes out of this review. We were extremely dissatisfied with our most recent vet visit, and will likely request Darby only...
